I found this PDF link on SQ Talk.

It is a table on an Australian finance site, comparing the cost of the new 4GB iPod Nano around the world. The anorak in me found it very interesting. [:I]

The cheapest place to buy appears to be Hong Kong, and the dearest is Brazil.

Obviously, due to currency fluctuations, local importation rules and other variables it isn't set in stone, but 'rip-off' Britain actually comes out quite well.

I would have thought the UK would have been much further up the list Nick. The exchange rate certinly helps though - I got my first ever 2(+) to the pound transaction on Friday at GLA!

Be wary of the iPod Shuffle knockoffs from China for £5. Someone was given one at work, and it works when plugged into the USB, but the battery dies after unplugging, even after being plugged in for 3 hours.

Very interesting list - although owning a s/w company with the majority of its customers being in the US is an absolute b****r, and has been for some time. Does anyone know if the same price differentials apply on the other products/models?

Having just checked my online cedit card account, I've just paid £201 for an iPod Touch 16Gb in Hong Kong. The 8Gb verion is ~£150.

iPods in Kuala Lumpur are almost the same price as in the UK:

8Gb Touch = RM 1,339 (£193)
16Gb Touch = RM 1,739 (£250)

Did you buy your Touch at the airport?

No I bought it from the IFC Mall above where the Airport Express station is.

Just had a look though and they are virtually the same price in the airport (might be about HK$10 cheaper that's all), although they only have 16Gb versions. I havn't actually seen an 8Gb version anywhere in Hong Kong so far.
