Grateful for your help.

Not directly a VS question, but I am sure general principles are the same.

I am looking to book a return flight with Air New Zealand in PE from LAX to AKL. Air New Zealand in the UK want around £1300, the Air New Zealand US website are stating under £1000.

Does anyone know of any restrictions or problems on buying tickets from the US site?

Thanks

Some airlines allow this, others dont. You might find that your credit card has to be registered to an address in the country you have the airline website set to and often it also has to be registered to the same country as your departure point as well. Amex cards sometimes allow you to get round this though.

As most airline web sites use online card authorisation, you will get an error message when trying to pay for your fare online.

It works with SIA as I've booked on their web site for departures outside the UK. Obvisouly you will always be charged in the currency of the country you are departing from. It also works for United as well.

One airline website where I could never get this to work was America West/US Airways (even with an Amex card)

Have you tried sites such as Expedia, Travelocity etc? As they are agents they can book tickets for any departure point in any country.

James,

Thanks for your help, I have an Amex and thinking about it have used it to buy Southwest and Delta tickets. I can only try.

I was concerned about ticket T&C's and these tickets only being for US citizens.

I will also try travel sites, the only problem I have found this these is that many don't give the option of PE.

Thanks

Jeremy

Jeremy

As long as the airline issues you an e-ticket, there shouldn't be a problem.

Both Expedia and Travelocity now allow you to book premium economy fares on most airlines as well.
