UVF Advice

Hi all

Spotted the miles offer on flights to UVF booked after 1/8 (only in EC though [:0]), so we are now considering a 7 night break to St. Lucia at the end of September.
We have never been before and it sounds lovely.
I have also found good deals on the Rex Royal hotel, and it has good reviews on tripadvisor.

Does anyone have any advice, recommendations for St. Lucia ?
We want somewhere relaxing , with a good choice of restaurants and perhaps a little bit of sightseeing.

We had a great time in St Lucia last summer staying at the East Winds Inn. We preferred the island to both Antigua and Barbados.

1. Can't comment about restaurants as we stuck to the facilities at East Winds

2. Sightseeing is the usual mix of the good, the bad and the ugly.

a. Brig Unicorn Sunset Cruise was good fun, aboard one of the smaller boats (ships?) used in Pirates Of The Carribean. Spoilt a wee bit by using the diesel to get out to see before unfurling the sails...

b. A trip to the rum distillery provided ample opportunity to sample some strange concoctions (hic). Don't go if you get particular about Health and Safety - there's every opportunity to fall into a vat of hot molasses. You also get to travel through the banana plantations.

c. Marigot Bay was very pretty to look at but an hour there wasn't the best time of my life.

d. Didn't get to the Pitons or the rainforest (interval between rum punches greater than could be tolerated), but heard good reports of same.

3. Consider booking the helicopter transfer to the north of the island. The roads and drivers are not for the faint hearted.

Thanks guys, sadly I think East Winds Inn is going to be a little beyond our budget [:#], although it does sounds like good value as it includes lots.
We wouldn't be taking full advantage as hubby is not a big drinker and by then (fingers crossed etc) I will be 19 weeks pregnant.... sshhh don't tell anyone


Will definitely book helicopter transfers, don't fancy an hour of twisty windy roads and bad driving [:$]

Food could not be more simple for you.....come out of the main gate, turn left...look on your right hand side. There are a number of great restaurants along that road.

Capones is one place that comes to mind, great food and service.

There is a French place that I can not remember the name off also.

Oh hell we need to go back...I love St Lucia..great island, great people.
