Well, they've certainly emailed out as-if it was...

Our famous Best of British inflight menu continues this summer, with delicious meals that will be sure to thrill travellers flying in Upper Class. The menu includes prawn cocktail, a classic roast, a salmon fillet, potato and cheddar pies and even Bakewell tart and warm custard or strawberries and cream. Tempted?

Have to say, I don't like prawn cocktail and the other starter ruled anything else out for me last week, so I'm not *that* impressed. Still, the potato and cheddar pie was nice [y]

No the problems run a lo deeper than that, one thing to remember is a lot of us have been flying VS for a longtime, we remember the days when the food was of a certain quality and content, days we yearn for again.

Please not the "Great British Menu" again. Problem with British food is that, especially done on a budget, its not that great. I wish they would give it a rest now please.

How I long for SQ's Chicken Satay again....

Cheers!

What is VS' obsession with these PITA themed menus - I just want good food, not food that has to come from the Yorkshire Dales or wherever. Having said that, the current menu could be a lot worse, given what is encompassed within British cuisine.

I have no gripes over it being Great British but it does seem a little old, changing the menu and a little variety would be lovely. I think the emphasis on regional standards is probably the biggest flaw, when the emphasis could just as easily be an emphasis on regional products--which is what Air New Zealand does.

So go ahead, serve a nice spring lamb dish, but make it elegant, and do a pie but but go for something that uses the exquisite choice from British cheeses rolled into a light and tasty result. No one needs (or wants) stodgy food on an airplane. ....and who's to dictate what Great British is anyway in a diverse world? Bring on the satay and yes to a really good curry!

my thoughts..
