Already a familiar sight on the motorways of the UK, the budget long haul bus company Megabus is starting services in the USA. Full story in SF Gate.
They are doing a San Francisco - LA run where four seats will be available at $1 and the maximum fare will be $36. They are also planning service to other US cities including Chicago, see their website. - Be warned, their website is suffering with heavy traffic, just like the Virgin America one did when it launched for bookings.
Having done long bus trips in the US by Greyhound many years ago, I certainly won't be buying any tickets, but I am sure there is a market there for them - especially at the prices they offer.
