OK I'm really confused. We're going to Orlando on Thursday booked through VH. Our tickets are no where to be seen due to the postal strike so I've arranged for duplicates to be delivered to the Airport Thursday morning.

I asked if we could still use Online check in as I have the 5 digit booking code and can access my booking on VAs website but was told that this would not be possible with reissued tickets. This of course also precludes us from using Twilight check in as we will have no documentation to check in with.

The thing is I was talking to someone in the Indian call centre and she had to put me on hold to check the answer to all my questions and I'm not convinced that what she has told me is accurate.

Could anyone confirm or deny the above as I'm getting a little concerned.

Thanks

Can you still access your booking on the VS website?

I cant see how a change in ticket number will affect your VS PNR as you can view the PNR even before paper tickets are issued and therfore before a ticket number is attached to your booking (if indeed paper ticket numbers are actually attached to PNR's) so a different ticket number shouldn't make a difference [:?]

You might be able to pick your tickets up when you go to use twilight check-in so that could be worth a try.

Dont forget that there's probably other people in the same situation as you as well.

Another reason for V Hols to start issueing e-tickets for flights I think. It surley must be easier (and cheaper) for them to do this. I wonder how many sets of paper tickets they have had to re-issue over the last 2 weeks [:?]

Yep we have no problen accessing our booking on VA's website. I guess the proof of the pudding will be when I try and check in online tomorrow.

2 things have come out of this experiance for me.

1. While the postal workers may think they're trying to protect their jobs by going on strike, all they have done is accelerated the chances of them loosing them. Businesses that have looked for and found an alternative during this dispute will not want to go back. They have more competition than ever and most people I've spoken to don't beleive that the strike was justified in the first place.

2. VH really need to train their staff to answer simple questions like this, I can't be the only one in this situation and you would have thought staff would have been briefed accordingly.

Well I've just checked in on line and have boarding passes in my hand. So much for the advice from VH Customer Services[V].

Trip report will be up in a week or two.

Nice one [y]

I'd send V Hols customer relations a letter telling them about your experience with the call centre.
