Sorry if this is in the wrong place - if it is I'm sure some kind Mod will hoik it to the appropriate forum. I have tried a search but got no results.

Has anyone successfully managed to upgrade a VH seat using miles at the airport? Off to MCO in a few days and am having 2nd thoughts about 9 + hrs at the back of the bus :)

Officially it's an un-upgradable fare, and I've only ever seen it done once (and that was when they were pretty keen to move some people). My understanding is that overriding the system to do it isn't trivial, so it would be difficult to do at the airport unless VS really needed to shift some people up (in which case the Golds on the flight might be seeing an op-up first).

Like Pete I doubt you'll have much joy, definitely for the outward journey. Worth a pot at DTD for the return though as I've had success with non-upgradeable tickets there on 3 separate occasions, although it's always been as a single traveller and I do have the Au card.

It is probably the same as other non-upgradeable fare classes, where you need to pay to move to an upgradeable fare and then use miles. In my experience, it is usually about the same to just pay the on the day upgrade fee, rather than change fare class and use miles
