I am very pleased to report that despite our concerns based on prevous TRs, we had an excellent experience on our flight out to LAS [:D]
We arrived at LGW at about 7am [:0], the M25 traffic being much better that expected on a wet Monday morning. Asked about upgrades to UC at the ticket desk but they only had one seat left.

No wait at the PE check in line, and we were called over to the UC desk. Nice chap checked us in and was very friendly and chatted about Las Vegas and his gambling losses ! He explained that we had fast track stickers for security and that this would save us about a hours wait. The normal queues looked horrendous, as we walked past with smug grins [}:)]. Fast track took about 15 mins.

The flight was showing an hours delay so we had plenty of time for breakfast and shopping.
Priority boarding worked well, no pushing or shoving.
We actually took off 2 hours late, the captain explained that this was due to a 5 hour delay a few days before that they were trying to catch up on, and also the fact that they were being security auditted.

Mr L2H commented that the upstairs cabin felt very spacious compared to his recent experiences travelling to LAX in PE on the airbus.
Menu, bottle of water and the new PE amenity packs were on our seats. Champagne/juice was offered quickly.

We had Odyssey IFE which had a good choice of films and TV.
We were served lunch, the usual chicken (very nice ), beef or veggie. Didn't think much of the Gu pudding, chocolate and fruit sauce just don't go together in my opinion.
Later we had icecream, then a hot panini sandwich.
Just before landing we were given a cold sandwich, which I thought was a bit odd as we had already had a panini earlier. I was expecting (and would have preferred) a scone or cake or something [ii]
Cabin staff were very good. We were offered plenty of drinks and there was a big basket of fresh fruit at the back of the cabin.

We got off the aircraft quickly, (Y passengers were held back) and through security within 10 mins. As we walked through to the baggage claim we spotted our cases just about to go back outside on the belt. A mad dash and we grabbed them before they disappeared. We were out of the terminal and in a taxi (no queue) to The Venetian within 30 mins of landing... excellent !!!

I'll post a separate TR for LAS and for the return flight.

Sounds like the service provided the great start to your holiday that you'd hope for...nice touch with the Fast Track stickers too.

Thanks for posting the TR.

Thanks for the TR[y][y]

not only does it dispell some of the negative impressions about the LGW service, it does confirm that PE gets a fast track sticker[y][y]

BTW, I agree that the upstairs cabin is a great plus, what seats did you have??

We had 77 A&C on the way out and 71 H&K on the return (will do the TR soon). I think I prefer the seats further back as you don't get people queuing for the loo next to you, although you do get your food first !

Many thanks for letting us know your seat assignments[y]

I have to agree that sitting further back has its advantages, but you run the risk of not getting first meal choice[V]
