The first thing you notice as you approach the JetBlue terminal are all these people queuing outside for the online check-in bag drop. What happens when it rains, Im not too sure but at least you get to see your baggage being unceremoniously thrown down a chute. I hadnt completed online check-in so made my way into the terminal to be faced with 2 options: kiosk check-in then kiosk bag drop or standard counter check-in. As both queues were of the same length I choose the latter. However, I had failed to notice that there were only 3 agents doing standard check-in (this rapidly dropped to one when 2 of them went for a rather lengthy fag break) compared to the 6 or so servicing kiosk bag drop. By this time, I had already committed so I stayed the course and spent 45 minutes patiently queuing.
Security thankfully only took 10 minutes and boarding began at 1:45pm at gate 1. Unlike some LCCs, JetBlue have priority boarding for those requiring assistance and children under 2. General boarding then began and I boarded the Embraer 190 to take my seat 6C which I had selected when I bought the ticket. The first officer announced a flight time of only 35 minutes due to the fortunate weather conditions, headphones were handed out, although many opted to use their own, and we were up and away at 2:30pm.
For such a short flight, the snacks were limited to coke/diet coke/water and animal crackers/munchy mix. I must say I was impressed that they managed to complete the service before the captain put the seatbelt sign back on. Also, impressive was the satellite TV and radio system which they have there is such a wide selection of channels that it would probably be quite hard to not find something that didnt appealed to you.
We landed at 3:05pm (scheduled 3:28pm), but everyone had to wait for about 25 minutes at baggage reclaim. However, a very good flight and to have complimentary drinks and snack included in the price was a real bonus.
