Thanks Pix for your rapid response to my last question, I'm back again to nag you for more info :D

I have a Priorirty Pass Card and plan to relax in one of the Heathrow Lounges as I have a long stop-over between flights en route to CPT, I'm sure Virgin don't make their lounges available for Priority Pass, but have read here and there that you can pay to get into the Clubhouse at LHR, does anyone know is this true, and if so how much do they charge? (Priority Pass charge me about $25 per visit) Thanks again,

Jon.

The Priority Pass card gets you into the Servisair lounge at gate 12. There is no means of paying for LHR Clubhouse access that I am aware of (other than being offered, and paying for, an Amex Centurion card I guess!).

Does anyone have experience of using their Centurian card into this lounge? I know it is supposed to be cardholder only, but I would like to take a fellow passanger with me. How friendly are clubhouse staff to this idea?

TIA

I really doubt that this would happen. And why should they do this anyway?

Sure - agreed - but there is no harm in asking :)

You can pay for access to the LHR clubhouse, it's 60 pounds sterling, and worth it. After checking in, go to the Virgin ticket desk to pay.

LHR Clubhouse Access

UK Centurion Card - Cardholder only - no guests. Strict on this and understandable really. Please don't annoy the staff but standing there askign why they can't bring a guest in - I've seen it so many times now. And as for the muppet that stood there expecting his Centurion Card to allow him to whizz thru J check-in...

Paying to get in - depends on how busy the lounge is but I have heard of passengers flying in Premium being offered access for various sums of money between £20 and £30.

Virgin Holidays customers can prebook to use the Clubhouse, but they are limited to 10 passengers a day and again subject to availability.

Its all about keepign a premium product exactly that. I remember the days when they used to let AmEx Platinum Cardholders in there, man it was busy!

J traffic is quite good at the moment, and the lounge has been the busiest I've seen it over the last year.

Thanks,
Richard

Coincidentaly I had asked about 'paid' entrance to the Clubhouse a couple of weeks ago when I was talking to my contact at Virgin. Apparently they tested this out, only allowing a limited number and then only if the Clubhouse wasn't busy. This trial ended in October (I think, from memory, although it could have been later). So, don't think you can buy your way in any more.

In SFO at the moment; travelled over on the VS19 on the 3rd. Nice flight in Upper. Should be getting my first 'live try' of the Suites on my flight back on the 10th :)

Just to be certain I understand ...

I am the FC member (red, sorry) traveling LAX/LHR in UC. I will have two pax with me in PE on the LAX/LHR portion who are booked in UC on the return. Any likelihood that the Club would allow them in with me?

Thanks for the information, everyone. Best wishes for the New Year.

If you are booked in Upper, you can take in one guest only. The LAX facility is the Air Canada lounge as VS does not have a Clubhouse. You could try askign at the lounge, but I would expect themt o say no. Not sure if AC will let you pay on the day to let your 2nd guest in.

Thanks,
Richard

Bit off the subject but I did notice in the comments book in the LHR lounge over Xmas Richard said he was looking forward to the new lounge at LHR, had I had one too many champers when I looked at the book or is there a refit on the cards.
Happy new year to you all

Hi ChuckC,

From your post, you will be able to use the Revivals Lounge on arrival from LAX at LHR but only you because you are travelling UC, your friends in PE will not be allowed in, even for money.

On your return leg, you say your friends are booked in UC, they will be able to use the Clubhouse. If you are also in UC on the LHR-LAX leg you too will be able to use the Clubhouse in your own right or as a guest of one of your friends.

Use of the Clubhouse is automatic if travelling UC, your FC membership grade is of no consequence in these circumstances. Gold FC gets you into the Clubhouse regardless of your ticket class when flying VS on the date of travel. As Richard says Centurion only admits the cardholder (again only when flying VS on day of travel).

Yes they are building an extension. They have bought the space next to them (used to be the AC lounge I think....) and will be expanding out this year - you will have to watch this space for further details.

Plans I saw were good - as a taster they are lookign at having like a salad bar concept and there were plans to have a proper Wireless Internet access :)

Thanks,
Richard

Wireless internet would be great given the tiny number of PCs that are cuirrently in the clubhouse. And a salad bar would be much better than the buffet -- the food you can order seems to be still of good quality but we always find the buffet food rather nasty.

I'd also like:

A proper children's area (so we can avoid!)
More toilets
Booking system back for the salon
Better range of hot food

Mind you, Virgin clubhouses are so far in advance of other lounges that maybe I'm just being greedy! :)

Just a thought - ring up Virgin Holidays and see if you can book through them (although you may need the whole package)its worth a try!

I went to Vegas in economy and manage to book and pay £30 to use the Virgin clubhouse at Gatwick. Well worth it the treatments are not included but these only cost between £5 for a scalp and back massage to £10 for back shoulders etc massage still very good.

(YES they let one of the low life economy passengers in there!!!and we all behaved although tried to drink as much as the bubbly as possible LOL!!!)

have a good trip........
