VS are due to move into the new T2 facility in April or May this year. [:D]

Does anyone know what lounge facilities VS have planned for use in T2?

Maybe VS and NZ might split the cost and share a J lounge between both airlines? [:D]

Anything has to be an improvement on the current offering at T1! [:)]

Couldn't agree with you more on that!

I'm out there early April tho not in J but I'll keep an eye out for anything - maybe the Bitches tour will see some promos from their lounge.

With regard to this I am rather suprised that nothing is mentioned on the VS website. Certain other sources are showing that VS are not changing terminal although I believe Expert Flyer to be more reliable.

A quick search on google has showed that other major airlines are showing the terminal change. The Shanghai Airport website is pretty dire and has no info on the new terminal.

About the lounge I believe the only lounge in the new terminal, from the info I have found, will be an airport run business class lounge.

Expedia is also showing the change - whether or not this uses the same data as ExpertFlyer I have no idea. BA is also showing as changing. The only information I can glean from the net about T2 is that it's going to be a Star Alliance terminal with a stunning Shanghai Airlines G lounge.

VS website now updated with terminal details. Lounge details are still for T1 only.

Well the new terminal has opened however the website hasn't been updated to reflect this either on the airports page or the Shared lounge clubhouses page. Saying that, the Shared Lounge page says:
Boston
Passengers are invited to enjoy the facilities in the Aer Lingus Lounge. The lounge has a self service bar, snacks, local and UK newspapers, access to WIFI, TV and the Virgin Snooze service buffet.

I think this page is in need of a little TLC.
Hopefully the bitches will be able to update us - they arrived in T1 and departed from the new T2.

Check in WONDERFUL - dedicated lounge like area to check in to. Lounge is a shared one overlooking the gate. Think ServisAir or thereabouts.... TR to follow - just arrived home.

Yep - PVG is great. The new T2 shows how to open a terminal properly, it is wonderful.

As Decker says, there is a separate Lounge at check-in for Upper passengers to check-in at and relax, and then there is a shared lounge complex above the gate which was no Clubhouse but good. I particualry like the two OSIM massage chairs down the end that were available. [:)]

Thanks,
Richard

EDIT - forgot that I took pictures of both, you can find them here.

A luxury that comes as part of the deal when you build '3 or 4 SPARE terminals' from the beginning in Pudong [:w]

I don't *think* many existing airports have such a benefit [:I]

Woah cheers for the info - the old UC Check-in and lounge were a bit rubbish. I wonder why they've kept this good news such a secret?

Because they don't want to embarass Heathrow?

While stangding in the lounge looking down at the growing crowd of pax at the gate we noticed something very shocking, and then something breathtaking!

Firstly they had two queues for checking boarding passes - one with a nice little 'Priority Boarding' sign for Upper, Premium (though they called it Premier) and Gold Card passengers and this was to be used accordingly. And then the real shocker, a white sign on the other boarding queue for 'Rows 51 - 65' (need to upload photo to check numbers). See it goes to show that yes VS can board planes properly, its just mostly at Heathrow they seem to lack the knowledge.

Mat

PS: No wifi in lounge, just four stand-up-at terminals.

I've uploaded the two pics I have of the boarding:

Now boarding, Rows 51-65.
