After visiting all the VS destinations in the US, myself and a couple of mates are thinking of heading to Philadelphia over the 'Thanksgiving' weekend in November, probably flying BA.

Just wondering if anybody had any personal recommendations on things to do (tours, museums etc.).

Looks like we will be booking the Windsor Suites, which is in the city center, its not flashy but we get the 3 beds we require, so if anybody knows the area its located in, any info would be greatfully appreciated.

I take exception to that.

Take the train to New York - it's so much easier and quicker, and you can have hot dogs and beer from the cafe!

BTW don't even go, just stay in New York anyway!

I liked Philly but I am a film geek and went to look at the rocky steps that are in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, not City Hall[;)].30th Street Station is also worth a look the opening of Witness was filmed there and of course Rittenhouse square where the legless Eddie Murphy pan handles in Trading Places.I loved the cheese steaks but make sure you know what you want as the real places(Pat's King of Steaks,Geno's Steaks across the street from each other)take no prisoners when ordering. The Eastern state penitentiary(now a museum) is well worth a look round, it is said to be the model for all modern prisons.
We only had a couple of days and enjoyed good food drink and hospitality I would love to go back.

We loved the bars & restuarants (outside tables) in Rittenhouse Square and the boutique shops in that vacinity but the rest of the city left much to be desired for us. We were at a conference and staying in The Downtown Marriott and it definately felt unsafe walking round that area after dusk.

A Duck tour http://www.phillyducks.com is different.

I'm definitely not saying it's worth going to Philly for, but if you are in the area anyway it's a different way to get a tour.
