God some people are just so stupid. I am sorry but destinations are said MANY times before take off, just shows how people don't listen or pay any attention before or during their trip.
And I agree with Scrooge, I get laughed at for knowing airport codes but it will be useful one day I am sure.

I think the family are to blame as much as the service air agent. Oh well their loss - IMHO Turkey is a much more exciting place to holiday!

[oo] wrong, but done in such a right way
I am amazed these idiots made it to Cardiff Airport in the first place.[:)]
And wouldn't it have said Arreceife on the tickets? Wouldn't it be wrong to get on a plane announced as Bodrum not Arreciefe?!

Yes but a lot of people know nothing about their destination beforehand. Last year we flew to Santorini. At the departure gate it said 'XL1234 Thira' (Thira is the greek official name for Santorini). I heard one kid say something like 'daddy, I thought we were going to Santorini?' the surprising (or maybe not) answer was 'yes we are, I guess the plane will stop at Thira first'
I agree that if you're a total novice when it comes to air travel, it could be easy to try to get on the wrong plane. However it's more worrying that all the security checks at the gate seem to have totally failed and let passengers onto the aircraft who shouldn't have been, which is the more worrying aspect of this from my point of view.
Always planning a trip somewhere!
Clarkey, that's my point too. I can understand passengers not knowing where they are going, but surely the check-in staff and gate agents are there to ensure that they get on the right flight? How do you check in with an e-ticket for destination X and get checked in for destination Y?
More importantly, I bet it never happens in the positive way, such as boarding a flight for a 2 day work trip to CPH and ending up in CPT for a week [:)]
Thanks,
Sarah

LHW baggage handler on annual holiday? [):]
Overheard canteen chatter between two individuals recently 'off on hols next week', 'where you going', 'Spain', where abouts 'Tenerife'.... [:?]
It amazes me the amount of 'package' based travellers who haven't got a clue where they're going, never mind which airport to get to...

NH, Hobbit Land.
Well what about the couple who booked Sydney and ended up in Canada? [:w]
The first time I went to JNB, I realised the check-in agent was labelling my bags to JNS, which is Narssaq, Greenland [:0]
