Allocation of miles from VS Amex to FC account.

Not sure if this is a FC or Card topic so posted here..

2 queries:

1. How long after spend would you envisage the earned Miles to be available on your account?

2. Booking a trip which leaves us slightly short.. would they consider the mileage earned on the outbound, making up the requirement needed for the return upgrade , and honor this.. [:?]

With regards to the first question. I get my Amex statement on or about the 11th of the month, this tells me how many points I have earned. The bill is paid by direct debit on the 23rd of the month, and the points usually appear in my FC account on the first day of the following month.

With regards to going into a negative balance in your FC account - I have have of it happening in the past, but have also heard of it not being allowed. All you can do is ask. [:D]

My account is exactly the same as Nick's. Statement issued 11th of each month, due date is the 28th of the month, FC miles are in my account in the first couple of days of the next month.

I imagine the answer to your second question is no. I have been in a negative balance by 2miles and that was a real battle to get FC to allow it. As Nick said it is always worth asking, and more than once, because different people gave me different answers but I wouldn't hold out much hope. I imagine they will tell you to buy some miles like the did with me before agreeing to it (not sure if the fact I only went 2 miles over wa a factor, but I imagine it was)
