Hi

I'm flying Sunday 27 Jun 04 Gatwick to St Lucia Hewanorra on Virgin Atlantic 031, returning 2 weeks later on VS032, looking at the schedule on here, i'll be on a 747 with a Nova entertainment system, which appears the lowest grade system on the Virgin fleet, reading some of the forum messages, the fleet is going through a refit, does anyone think there is a chance this plane will be refitted before then?

Thanks,
Paul.

Hi ecnirp,

I doubt very much if the LGW fleet will be upgraded by June.( even one aircarft will probably not be done by then)

The LHR fleet is currently being upgraded then the LGW fleet but this is likely to take until very late 2004/early 2005.

Nova, while the system has the least number of channels , is still an ok system.

You could get an aircraft swap from LHR due to one going tech but it is unlikely.

Enjoy your flight.

I can safely say that your flight will be on LGW 400 so Nova for you.

All the screens are the same size in all classes.

The difference in PE and Y they are in the back of the seat in front and the IFE handset cannot be removed from the cradle.

The screens in Upper class come out of the armrest and the remote controls also are on a cord so its easier to flick betweens movies.

All classes have Audio and 8 video channels plus a sky map.

Thanks,

They definitely do -- around 20 or so DVDs. I needed to use one flying out to ANU last week.

DVD players are for Upper class passengers only and can be used on all Virgin Flights, however are no longer offered as a service like the old video watchmans.

There are 28 titles to choose from including, films, music videos, sitcoms and dramas.

The DVD players are also used a service recovery tool in PE and economy when a screen is inop.

Beacuse they are mainly used as service recovery you may find the titles are not all that up to date.

ONly 9 DVD players are loaded per aircraft.
