News Release

I suspect this was always on the cards, although it would have been kinda nice to do the trans-America bit in Virgin America, going to or coming back to London on VS from New York.

There doesn't seem to be a way to work Virgin Blue in there either. All the V Oz routes go toward the US, rather than connecting any of the existing Far East Virgin Atlantic destinations.

1239 inclusive seems pretty good for the launch special. No doubt if you want to fit in Virgin Blue and Virgin America flights the price will rise substantially.

Anyone know if there's going to be a reward flight (ie miles redemption) option on this?

I guess we will have to see if V.Australia will be joining Flying Club first.

Just had the email offer today $2499 ex Sydney. Not bad as they are selling SYD-LHR Y on sale at $1809/2039 depending on dates.

I am sure V Australia is part of DJ and the V Australia frequent flyer program is DJs Velocity so FC members can earn but not spend - I think. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Yup, V.Australia is Velocity. At least, it was when I last looked at the site.

Thanks,

Seems kind of expensive really, given Air New Zealand offer a practically identical itinerary only going to Auckland, not Sydney, on sale at the moment from 583 !!!! If you were desperate to visit Sydney then I'm sure you could pick up a reasonably priced return from Auckland for a lot less than the difference in fare.
And I have to say - I'd take AirNZ's economy over VS's in a second... there is no comparison. Legroom, food, more reliable entertainment system, and more often than not, service.
