Today's Sunday Times has an article about airline food which puts VS (along with Gordon Ramsay) in second place to BA.

Singapore Airlines BTW is way down the pecking order[:0]

Perhaps we all have got it wrong[:?]

I particularly like this comment from Virgin :

'We dont do fine dining, but were not Harvester, either,

Maybe if they did they could make an announcement on the lines of

'Welcome to upper class sir, have you ever been to our salad bar before ...'

Love the quote about the microwave food from BA - 'we look at Marks & Spencers bestsellers and serve the same.

If only VS adopted that it would be an improvement in that it would be consistently edible [:w]

Wow, just wow, does VS employ someone to just sit at a computer and vote for these things ?

Same points for pudding as for main course!
So the VS difference: Gu!

Just as well 'bread, cheese and crackers ignored' seen as on VS the cheese and crackers are no more and the bread rolls on ex-US legs taste like crap.

Well if choosing a meal purely on how much I'd enjoy it rather than in context I suspect I'd prefer a Harvester to most of the UC offerings TBH. I just lower my standards because I'm at 30,000 ft.

Now that I have had time to read to whole thing, ok they are talking about the food in Y, then ok, I can live with that, two off my best VS meals have been in Y, both of them pasta dishes.

I would disagree with the article on the SQ Y food though. What I've had on their flights was all very good and, the last flight to BGI aside, VS's PE offerings don't even come close.

Yes. Id be inclined to believe this, if my most recent meal hadn't looked like:

Half the problem seems to be, no matter how good the ingredients, all it takes is the 'chef' to balls it up

I cannot believe VS is receiving any kind of praise for its food after the general theme on food in these forums!!!

The general feeling is that the food in UC with a few rare exceptions is an abomination, the food in PE and Y in general gets higher marks, however, there are some meals, like the one above and the joke that VS call a breakfast that really deserve being kicked to the side.
