Hi folks,

I'm heading out to SFO on VS19 this Tuesday, and the J availability is pretty much wide open (J9 D9 R9 Z8), however the seatmap shows the whole UC cabin as being full, and I've been reassigned from my chosen decent (22K) seat to 19K which gets the full on Galley FM experience...

I wondered if the Upper Deck is being blocked out on the LHR 744s when the cabin is lightly loaded? Anyone know?

Wasn't there some talk of closing the Upper Deck when the loads were light as a pre-cursor to changing the bubble back to economy seats?

We were talking about VS being able to close the bubble if loads were light in Y so saving on staff, of course you need the loads to be light in both directions for that crew or the return will be short staffed...and VS never like to work short staffed [ii]

Actually, SFO is one route that is holding up pretty well right now, maybe due to less flights than LAX etc

SFO is down about 5%, LAX 20%

Is there any aircraft coming back from MX right now ? or any due to leave and a 346 being subbed in ?

Last time I looked, as of last week, all 5 LHR 744s were working LHR flights. EWR 1/2 and LAX 7/8 have been worked by the 744 recently as a result.

From what I can tell on the seat map, we're on a 744.

Fingers crossed something better for me will open up at check-in!

Good luck, though to me it's more important to get a quiet seat on the return leg.

Could well be that there is either a VVIP on board or a 'special assistance/escorted 'PAX'' either which I have seen before necessitating the closure of the upper deck (and/or First on BA).

Appears to be a game of musical chairs being played with the seats which are blocked until check-in. Managed to trade 19K for 21K. [:D]
