Marriott are also trying this out. Once I've renewed Silver, there isn't any point in chasing tier points as I'll never get to Gold, so I do consider other airlines. This sort of thing might make me think again.

Didn't VS used to let you keep Ag status once you earned it a couple of years ago?

Seems the same sort of idea?

BMI already have the 10 year Au thing as well, where if you keep up Au for 10 years after that, it's then yours for life.
