Not sure about the LGW one but avoid the Travelodge just down the M(A)23 at Hickstead. Avoid it like the plague. It still has Forte Group Branding some 13 years after Forte Group disappeared.

We stayed 1 night at the Gatwick Travelodge last month before an early flight (cost about 35 inc the overnight parking) and it did the job, was clean, reasonably comfortable and quite quiet. That said - we didn't arrive until 9pm and checked out at 5.45am, and didn't eat anything there either! In summary I'd rather pay 19 for an OK night at a Travelodge than five times more for a night at a Hilton or something because at the end of the day you're just crashing there for the night before the flight and the money would be better spent when you're away!
