Florida Weather

It's been quite cold in Florida Jan and Feb (and December was a bit cool).

Does anybody why this is? Some weather event?

Apparently the whole Northern hemisphere has been colder than normal.

All to do with there being an unusual number of high pressures over the polar region forcing the cold air further south than normal.

We were there in Feb last year and some days were very hot, others we needed jeans and a jumper. We would go again in Feb.

As someone who normally would travel to florida this time of the year (and was there over New Year), i would say that this is an exceptional year and that even the locals are finding it difficult to cope with[:0]

Let's hope this is a one off - a bit like the UK and the snow this year[}:)]

Certainly is a very exceptional year in Florida....my parents have been commenting on just how cold it is. As an aside previous Christmases spent in Fl have seen me not even wear a jumper in the evening.

We have been here in Florida for over 3 weeks now(including a Caribbean cruise) and it has been terribly cold most of the time. The locals are quite fed up!!!! The main problem has been the freezing wind, even when the temperatures have risen a little. Straight from Canada as the weather forecasters keep showing us. The wind even reached us on the cruise. However, we are still having a great time and it is much better than being at home. Hopefully from next weekend we should be a little warmer.

Think anything goes at present. Last May, we were in centre of 'state of emergency across central florida, they even shut Seaworld due to amount of Rain!!'
My folks were scrapping ice of the car in Jan this year...

Weather/ climate does go round in big cycles over decades, its only when something noticeable happens everyone starts predicting the worst, wether there is anything specific for causing this last 18 mths, not sure, but you can bet they'll be many conspiracy theories and conclusion jumping going on..

...and according to every other credible report in the Northern Hemisphere.
Only a Climate Change 'scientist' would claim that his satellite data was more correct than the combined experience of billions of people around the world!

We were there last May too in all that rain!! Just before the rain it was exceptionally hot for the time of year. This time we have had record lows. so, we have been here for 14 weeks so far in the last 12 months and we have had the coldest, the hottest, and the wettest weather for the times of year!!!!!!

It's because this year is an El Nino year.
Caused us to re-arrange our Florida trips for New year and Feb just gone, it happens though.

I remember reading this on the link below last year, I took no notice of it, not a mistake I'll make again [:D]

we were there last Oct and had record highs some days, then i wnet in jan and had record lows. am hoping this may will be good

It sure is, most were expecting it to. We've re-scheduled Orlando for Oct 2010, no doubt it's odds on we'll run into a Hurricane now, wouldn;t be the first time mind you [:0]

Never hurts though, for those living in a warm climate, to experience what the rest of us have to deal with for most of the time

Isn't it the satellite data that is the basis for all these global warming claims?
What does that tell us about the satellite data - and of course, the whole global warming panic?
