We are booked in PE to MCO in June and would like to upgrade to upper on the return. I have gone into manage my booking but it only shows the price for outbound upgrade or round trip upgrade. Is there any reason why retun upgrades are not coming up or is this something that can only be done on the way back?

I imagine the reason there is no option to upgrade the return is because there are no seats available. It is worth giving VS a call though as they will be able to confirm this or if there are seats available and it is a glitch give you a price.

If the OP is being offered the chance to do a round-trip upgrade, then UC seats must (in theory) be available on the return flight. I'm guessing that Virgin offer just the outbound / round-trip upgrade options as if more people just select the round-trip option, it generates more cash for them.

As Neil has said, call Virgin and they should be able to sort the upgrade for you if seats are available.

Yes, sorry I missed the bit about a round trip upgrade being available, a call to VS should sort it out.

personally I wouldnt pay the extra to upgrade from PE on the MCO flight, unless you were on a LHR config plane with the better entertainment selection

Thanks all, quoted 570 for one way upgrade vs upgrade for whole trip for just over 1000. Seems to me might as well upgrade the whole way or just stay in PE like Penny L mentioned. Have not travelled in upper before and thought be nice to upgrade for the overnight from MCO but then no club house so one of the major oerks gone. Am worried about the reports i have heard about drop in standards/perks and worry that i will upgrade and then regret it. I wonder if i should upgrade to upper for my first flight on one of the LHR. What do the upper veterans think? What is your advice to an upper virgin?

If you can afford it, do it. At least you'll know! :)

We have flown PE in the bubble several times from Manhester to MCO, we found the squishy seats actually very comfortable..
As Sealink says if you can afford the 1K then go for it...It just gets expensive when you have a family of 4.

I think the UC upgrade is well worth it for the flight back from MCO. There is a complimentary lounge in Orlando, Its the Delta lounge next to Starbucks. I passed a great two hours there last month watching Canada v USA in the Ice Hockey Gold Medal game. It could be over 21s only though, as it is really just a large bar. I only ever fly MAN-MCO with Virgin so don't know what I'm missing with the London club house.

Having a flat bed for the return flight is a big benefit in terms of not having jet lag. PE in the bubble is okay, but does not match a bed. The worst thing that can happen is you have a PE seat that is downstairs and you have to watch the UC passengers changing into their pyjamas an hour into the flight, and then smell their bacon butties being 'cooked' 90mins before landing.

If you can afford it in my opinion the PE to UC upgrade offers a far greater benefit than Econ to PE. The problem is you won't want to go back.

the Delta lounge at MCO does allow children in -there were 2 playing golf last time I was there.

you have to weigh up 570 = free drinks and use of lounge + bed. Even if you spend 70 quid each on food and drink at the ariport then you have to decide is a bed worth 500 notes ???
