Hotels in New York

Does anyone know of any really nice hotels in New York

I am going there in a April and the last time i went was 11 years ago and would be greatfull for some advice on where to stay

The Marks Good its a Mandarin Oriental property and their choices package breakfast late check-out are good value.Good upper east location.It is due/having renovations but they could be finished by April.
The Carlye across the road is worth a look but price can be a bit off putting, they do have offers.
From what I have read The NY Palace,The Lowell& The Plaza Athnee(had a couple of beers here very nice)are worth a look.

Your budget is too steep for me to comment;)

I tend to stay on the Jersey side and get the PATH train / NJ Transit into the big city. The way I figure it - the less I spend, the more trips I can make [:I][:I]

I've stayed at a couple before (my next trip is the Plaza next year -see a couple of topics ago!), both hotels I have found comfortable, affordable and in good locations.

The Novotel is a reasonably priced 4 star hotel, great location, 5 minutes from Times Square; breakfasts not up to much but a great diner at the bottom of the hotel on the corner of the street, opposite Athletes Foot (looks cheep'n'cheerful, and it is, service is OK, but quality and amount of food is great). Rooms quite spacious with a potentially good view; nice piano lounge bar, good concierge service - would go back again.

Also stayed at the Radisson, right on Times Square - a bit more upmarket and fantastic location and great views from their restaurants. Again rooms good size with coffee making facilities with good room/concierge service.

whilst I normally stay at the marriott or renanianse in Times Square all i will say is "Go where you can get the most miles;);)"

The Royalton is a fantastic hotel will fit the budget and is a very cool chill out hotel, if you ever go must get a room that has the bath tubs there amazing also most rooms have working fireplaces which are fantastic...although you do have to sign a insurance waiver....public areas are fantastic just for a meal or drink in the bar

Is there anywhere in particular you want to stay in New York? Do you want to be next to Central Park? in Times Square? etc.

Well we would like to stay neer to Times Square as other places are with in easy reach.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Times Square last year, it was okay, nothing swanky but clean and the service was acceptable.

I can recommend the W Times Square. Urban Suites are well within your budget. It's a 5 second walk to Times Square as you leave the fantastic entrance of the W which is situated on the corner of Broadway and 47th Street.

Well after looking at all the hotel's you guy's mentiond we found the St Regis on 55th at 5th ave so not to far from most places, Plus we earn miles from our stay there as it's part of the Starwood chain.

I've stayed at the Sofitel - its a very short walk to Times Sq (in one direction) or 5th Ave and Central Station in the other...

It was one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in and a suite would set you back about $300 a night - maybe less.

It really is a gorgeous hotel. I could find NO faults with it (very unusual for me [8)])

Just got back from two nights at the Mandarin Oriental on Columbus Circle in the new Time Warner Centre.

All I can say is WOW!

We had a suite on the 52nd floor which was fantastic with views to die for but the regular rooms were also very good and a decent size.

There is a first class restaurant 'Asiate' and a lounge where you can get a drink and lighter bites. Both are on the 35th floor adjacent to the main lobby, yes the lobby is on the 35th floor served by high speed elevators from street level. The views over Cental Park and Central Manhattan from either eatery are very impressive.

Service was very good the room was immaculate and the food was excellent.

I would highly recommend it. I will do a full report and have many pics to post when I can grab a minute.

I've stayed at The Muse, which is just a few steps away from Times Square. Nice hotel with good value for the price. The bed and linen were very comfortable. I rarely stay near Times Square, as my wife prefers staying near Central Park.

The St. Regis is an excellent choice and you can't beat points! If you love good cheese, I suggest you dine at Picholine (an easy walk from your hotel) or its sister restaurant, Artisinal. Picholine has a cart with a 55-cheese selection!

Hey Pegitt. The St. Regis was just awarded the highest rating by Michelin, one of the few hotels in NYC to earn the rating.

The Millennium UN Plaza on 44th is pretty good, good sized rooms, right next to the U.N. and only two blocks down from Times square, although it is better to walk down the avenue and then get a bus across to times square.
