Sleeper Suits

Query posed my my wife - does any (male) flyer ever use the sleeper suits or do they all ask for a smaller size and take them home for jim jams for people who look a lot better in them? [:I] (admitting that when we fly together I get jim jams for home use too )

I always change into them for over-night flights. I've no problems at all wearing them and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks whilst been on-board wearing one. They make for a much more comfortable and cooler sleep whilst on-board. Also your suit doesn't get as creased either. I've never taken one home with me though.

I've got too many hang-ups to wear one on-board! I always take mine home with me. A few weeks ago we were getting off at LHR and I notice a lad up in front still had the eye shades perched on top of his head. Whether he knew they were there or not is a bit of a mystery, but he still had them on going through immigration and at the baggage claim, much to the amusement of everyone!

In June I will be doing a spot of free advertising for VS as I will be wearing them on a .... BA flight to YYZ ( There ..I said the word [:p])

Now if only VS would restart flight to Canada.

Wearing them on BA flight - brave man. Watch out for the eye drops in the drink trick!

Well it all depends, for those who have been lucky enough to fly the new suite the new jim jams are 100 times smarter and more descreet, heck I have even worn them to pick up the papers on a Sunday, and no on battered an eye lid

If you remember the really old sleep suits, the top was pretty much a sweatshirt... which I still wear to this day (ok, I take it off occassionally to wash it).

O.M.G has anyone got a spare small one or can pick me one up? - i have the purple/grey one and use it at home also wore it onboard - doesn't bother me think they look o.k!

I echo Shaun's request. If anyone could pick up a small, new black sleep suit for me, I'd be most grateful

I already have a fabulous purple and grey one, so a black one would be great

Sorry - the next couple of small romper suits are earmarked for in-laws [:(]. Mind you they're so comfortable that I'm surprised they're not on sale in Retail Therapy!

I remember the old light grey ones, I don't think they were as comfortable to sleep in as the purple and grey ones. They were quite thick and tighter on the wrists, ankles and neck. As you say, they were better to wear as a sweatshirt.

Are the new black ones the same type of material as the purple and grey?

In answer to the original post, my husband wears his sleep suit onboard.

Wife always changes I sometimes do.I wear the purple tops most days at work as a sort of thermal vest.The bottoms I cannot get on with they always seem to fall down.The old grey suits,I hated the tops and gave them away to father-in-law who is still cycling in them. The bottoms I loved for dossing around in and rugby training but they are all now long gone.Not seen the black ones yet may be on our JFK flights in a couple of weeks.The BA ones are total c*** and fall to pieces after the first wash.

I've not been in UCS for a flight yet - so no new style sleepsuit for me yet. Saw them at the UCS launch party though!

I do have sets of the previous 2 generations, including the ones branded up by Virgin Clothing. Now I've lost count of how many sets of these I have acquired in the last 5 years - I know I have one set in my case with me here in Delhi, the set I got on the flight over and at least 5 other sealed sets at home with all the other VS stuff I have.

At the same time, I have no idea of the number of sets that have gone missing. I put a set in my guest suite at home, and they have a tendency to disappear. For some reason, the girls in my office fight over who is getting the UC Amenity kit and the sealed PJ's - gets to the point I have to mark down who's turn it is. You can imagine the commotion when the shift to Space.NK happened.....

I have 2 sets of BA First PJ's too, but they are nowhere near as good as the VS one's.

Interestingly on the B&S back from Antigua we didn't get Space.NK, just the kit. Is this standard?

I got the kit and a box of Virgin Vie samples on my last UC fights (even on LGW-MCO B&S route).

It worked from Virgin's point of view, as after giving the Virgin Vie samples to my mum she went and ordered more from them!!!

On This years flights(non UCS)so far I have had the virgin vie gear in the pump dispensers.It comes in a separate card board box about the size of a pack of playing cards in addition to the ammenity kit, the space NK gear in similar packaging were in plastic sachets on flights I took last year.Must have got a trial of the new stuff last year.

Yeah on the last UCS back from Newark we got kit and box, but on UCS back from Antigua we only got the kit...[:(] It's gotten silly in any case now we've run out of people to give them to.

Maybe it's just me, but I find the older sleeper suit to be softer than the new suites one, it feels as if there's a lower grade cotton used in the new one. That said, both are of a better quality than the BA ones which feel cheap frankly.

And of course you only get the BA sleep suits in First class. If you are travelling in NCW, you get ... nothing ( apart from the amenity kit)
