Now I've booked my holidays for the next 6 months it was time to add on overnight airport stays. Usually booked through ABC and their costings are: (I presume dates may vary though)

Gatwick Hilton
Room Only 129.25
with 8 days parking 134.00
with 15 days parking 159.00

This has always compared favourably with other sites and just thought I'd check VH. No cost with 8 days parking. They show:

Gatwick Hilton
Room Only 110.00
with 15 days car parking 135.00
Celebration package (which ABC no longer do) 210.00

Added to this I get 10% discount as FVH it works out much cheaper for RO or 15 day parking.

Not sure how it compares at LHR but this seems like a good deal to me.

Interesting.

We're heading out of Gatwick to MCO next April for 24 days and was going to look into parking - but maybe I should also consider a hotel option rather than racing to Gatwick for an 11 am flight.

Thanks for the tip - will investigate.

That's a very good deal as I've booked an Exec Floor room through HHonors for next July at the LGW Hilton and it's going to cost me ~£200 just for 1 night only with no parking....that is a fully flexable rate though. Pre-purchase rate is ~£160 which I may very well change over to nearer the time.

Can you earn HHonor points when booking through ABC [?]

I have just booked a room and 15 days parking with VH and got my 10% off it making it £121.50 for next march what a bargain. Even the Celebration package is a very good deal £189 with an exec room, access to the exec lounge and also a bottle of champers.

I actually emailed ABC and they said at the time they did not have any Exec rooms available but they do still sell them. That said I check the ABC website for many months and could not find one when it had availability in an Exec room.

I booked the Hotel + Parking direct with VH not FHR as they were more expensive. Which I thought was a bit strange. I assumed that VH booked through FHR.

Maybe someone can clear this up.

Jason

Sorry I should have been clearer - ABC do sell executive rooms but all that gives is a larger room, they now do not include breakfast or the evening lounge from 6-8pm with free drinks and canopes. The last time I was able to do this with them was about 2 years ago.

Could you explain FHR? Not familiar with the abbreviation or am I missing the obvious?

Thanx

Hi Jilly,

Previously I have booked an Exec room with ABC. These are in the new wing that was opened a year or 2 ago. FHR stands for Flight Hotel Reservations. This is a company that VH recommend in there brochures and give a different phone number and a reference number to get a discount (VHOLS i Think). This seems to be separate and different from booking through VH.

Hi,

I have checked every company I could find online and VHOLS came out the best. I do wonder if someone has made a pricing error. Since VHOLS charge £135 - 10% discount for a 1 night plus 15 parking and ABC 1 night + 8 days is £134. I might be wrong but seems slightly suss.

I kind of thought the same. The only thing I can think of that might make a difference is that ABC parking is through Summer Special at the North Terminal. VHols use on site parking unless full up and then use Summer Special - maybe this way they've negotiated a better rate with the Hilton?

Hi Jilly

I was not aware that VH do not use the Summer Special parking. So do they use Parking Express I forgot to ask when I booked??

Go to: virginholidays.co.uk/airporthotels

Interestingly on the hotel page it states 'on site car parking available at a supplement'. However if you check availability and do a costing the errata states 'please be advised if the car park is full clients can use summer special parking at the North Terminal'.

Not too worried where the parking is as long as its included.

I checked for rooms for April next year and all packages showing availability.
