My wife and I are going to Paris at the end of November. It was a last-minute decision, as we were in London just last June and we usually only travel to Europe in 18-month intervals so we can cash in FF miles for free business class seats. We buckled up and bought coach tickets and decided to go anyway. Then, Delta e-mails me an advert yesterday for $2,100 round-trip business class seats to Paris. Er, my wife and I couldn't resist. I had to talk the ticket agent into not charging me a ticket change fee while crediting my coach tickets, but I pulled it off. The new business tickets still qualify for miles and I get double-miles for purchasing them on my Delta Amex. That puts my wife and I closer to those two free business-class tickets to Italy that we desperately want. Anyway, my wife and I are now luxuriously broke and scrambling to change our restaurant plans to include more modest selections. One day I'll get that new roof put on my house, and my car is approaching 9 years old, and . . . it's true, once you've turned left, it's hard to go the other way. I only wish Virgin flew direct to Paris from the States. My wife said she will miss her UC suite.
