I have a friend who is taking their mother in PE to MCO.
She is elderly and mobility challenged.
As the PE seats on this route currently are all upstairs and this couyld be a difficulty for her, does anyone know what Special Assistance do in these situations?
TIA

Hi Alan

I'd get your friend to contact VS urgently. It's hard to think what assistance could possibly be given due to the narrowness and steepness of the stairs. The website does advise ringing before booking these seats for anyone with mobility difficulties.

With the current LGW 744 configuration, rows 11&12 downstairs (UC seats)are quite often classed as PE with a PE service - this would be the best your friend could hope for but I'm guessng they only make that decision on the day based on number of PAX for PE and UC.

If she does nothing, her mum could end up being downgraded to an economy seat (presuming one available)if they can't get her upstairs.[:(]

Call VS as soon as you can and advise them of this.

Virgin special assistance is 0870 380 2004

Upper class seats in row 11 and 12 are used as PE on all Orlando flights when PE is full which it normally is.

They may reserve them seats here, or either upgrade or downgrade them depending on the loads on that day!!!

Hi Alan

Further to my earlier reply, I've just stumbled across this whilst looking for something else. It's in the special assistance section on the VS website:

"On some of our B747 aircraft our Upper Class and Premium Economy seats are located on the upper deck. For emergency and safety reasons passengers must be able to climb the stairs swiftly and unaided."

Good news Alan, it is nice when a company delivers on its promise to actually provide a service for people with special needs of any kind.

I gather that Virgin Holidays have arranged wheelchair assistance from check in, and to the hire car at the other end, plus seats downstairs on VS027/28. the flights are in October and they said that it will be in Zoner B , so the a/c is the normal 747
