I've just looked through my jetrosexual ... errmmm, not really quite sure how to describe it.
It starts of by introducing the new jet set - "Start at the golden dawn of commercial air travel: a time when the airplane was a majestic luxury ship that sailed through the clouds, and when passengers dressed up and swilled cocktails on their way to exploring a newly accessible world. These fortunate few were the "jetsetters" of their day, and their progeny (not yet born), would be the jetrosexuals of a later age. But between those two generations, much about the flying experience would change - some for the better, some for the worst."
It then takes you through what seven characteristics make up a "jetrosexual". Which are:
1. need for speed
2. they don't use up a lot of oxygen
3. they're wired
4. trance-atlantic
5. meet, greet, change the world
6. they fly in the face of jet lag
7. they spread out and disseminate
The pages describing the characteristic are covered with collages of photos of various aspects of the Virgin Atlantic flying experience. According to the little footnote it also consides of a selection of real life stories and anecdotes.
How would i best describe it? If next to the bar they had a coffee table this would be an In-Flight Coffee Table book. Nice to look at and flick through the photos and to admire, but not one to read in depth. A distraction while trying to pretend to listen to the annoying passenger who won't shut up.
