How early can I check in?

Flying UC to London next week from JFK. Plane leaves at 9 p.m. How early can I check in? How long are the security lines at JFK these days in the afternoon on a weekday? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Do not know about security at JFK but have a great flight and remember to check out the clubhouse.

Security lines for the 9pm departure have been fine in my experience. The flight is usually called at about 8pm from the lounge, then you get ticket and passport checked twice, pick up your duty free and go through the scanners. I've never had much of a wait there (3 Friday pretty full night flights in the last 6 weeks) and departures from the terminal don't seem to be all that frequent.

The non-priority boarding line was long last time I flew, but you're UC so it won't be a problem. There might be another small wait on the ramp to the aircraft. The biggest wait will be on the aircraft for everyone else to get on board (assuming you go when called!)

I checked in at JFK for VS046 nearly 5 hours before the flight as the check in was open for the earlier VS004(no wait at UC or PE but Y looked rather snakey) and had a merry time in the clubhouse:D

I have checked in 4 hours before my flight to Boston. I was the first one though..... When I approached the desk and told them my destination was BOS 2 or 3 of the check-in agents looked at each other and then one of them grabbed the phone to announce they were starting to book Boston flyers hehe

Check in is open from 06:30 am for any flight except Lagos.
