I have just purchased a S class PE ticket to SF for next Easter and then used a gold renewal companion ticket for Mrs GO. I asked FC if I could upgrade these with miles to UC. Yes for my S class ticket (purchased through VTS) but no for Mrs GO's ticket as this is in U class. Mrs GO has offered her air miles to upgrade both tickets but she does not (yet)know that only mine can be upgraded.

Should I take up her kind offer?!!!? Perhaps not......

cheers

Am a little confused by your post... I assume that you are asking whether you should just upgrade yourself (and not the misses)? (because you cannot upgrade her...)

I would say "no". Some people do this and "swap" during flight, but asome airlines don't like you doing this. Also I think that UC is something to enjoy together - so save the miles for another time (then both enjoy it at the same time...).

Your assumption is correct; it is tempting to upgrade myself but you are absolutely right that UC is better as a shared experience and we are fortunate that we are both going UC to BGI later in the year.

Swapping during the flight I would consider somewhat improper.

I agree with Boo.

The potential for domestic disharmony when your wife finds out, outweighs the pleasure of US (just;) )

Next time you can both enjoy the UC experience.

Do I see the silver lining to being single there... :)

Don't you just love S fares!

Thanks,

Why don't you take a punt on using those lovely miles at check-in? Mrs B and I have been lucky in the past when it's come to upgrading reward/ companion tickets at the airport. I think if there's space and you ask nicely, they'll try to help you out...

Cheers

I like Buffers idea :)

I would do that - stay together (in PE), but try your luck (to upgrade both of you) at check-in.

Different couples are different, but I would miss my other half if we flew in different classes (and not sure that I would forgive him if he upgraded himself! ;) ).

Good luck, have a great trip and another great trip when you go to BGI later :)
