Heya all,

First of all I apologise if this has been asked before here...
I have 24800 VS miles in my account. I need just 200 more miles ASAP for an award flight. How can I get those 200 miles? Can I have my mom call up VS and transfer some of her miles into my account? Does that work, or do you have to be Gold or something? What other choices do I have, if any?

Thanks for your help.

Chris

You cannot transfer miles from 1 FC account to another regardless of your tier level.

Have you tryed ringing FC and making the reward booking with the miles you have got now as sometimes FC will allow a small negative numbers of miles in your account, especially if they can see you do earn miles quite often [?]

I did. They said that for partner airlines it has to be the exact number of mileage...
Maybe I should call up again and try, afterall depends in what mood the agent is..

Thanks again

Problem solved!
American Express Membership Rewards points rule!
Although the 2:1 transfer ration sucks, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Quick addon question in the same area:

Does VS allow you to mix miles and cash to upgrade? If so how many miles per dollar? or vise versa?

Thanks!

Never heard of miles plus money to upgrade, only to buy the ticket in whatever class.

Could you explain what you mean by that? Are you saying you must spend 10,000 AMEX points to get 5,000 miles in VS account? I have not had that happen to me. Recent change perhaps?

Chuck,

Yep, there's a 2:1 transfer ratio between AmEx Membership Rewards and VS .
As far as I know it's been like that for a good couple of months.

With the current exchange rate, 1:1 for £ and 2:1 for $ works out about the same.

Yeah, fair point. But then again, a lot depends on how many MR points you get per £ or $ in the first place :)

True. I was assuming that you earn the same number of MR points per $ as you do per £.

All things being equal, then yeah - there are different earnings incentives for different cards with different affiliate companies. For instance, the current VS Amex UK Gold offer is 1 MR point per £1 of normal spend, and 2 MR points per £1 spent directly with VS. Whereas the VS Amex US Gold offer is 1 MR point per $1 across the board. :)

Cheers

Now you have me wondering whether anyone else has transferred miles from AX to VS account and had the 2:1 ratio applied?

Thanks to all.
