Is it me or are the kits getting to look a bit cheap? I think they need to do something different like the BA First BAG which is total class, the virgie vie products are ok, but i have noticed the pen enclosed now is plastic like the ones in economy,
do you know if they have any plans to change?

I had a survey done in the clubhouse and they showed me some samples including a little prada pouch and products, molton brown bits and other designs, looked good!!

Hear Hear!

Time for a change, back to metal pens (got a great one in the clubhouse ages ago - thin and with a tail fin at the end) different and classy cosmetics (male and female varieties PLEASE) and regularly changed sweeties.

Oh yes - you get a key ring too (it's quite nice)

I love the metal pen with a tail fin. As for the cosmetics, I agree that Virgin Vie doesn't really have the 'class' factor that you'd expect from a premium flying product, and their are plenty of other ranges out there that do (Eve Lom would be my personal preference. I have very limited UC exposure, but I thought the products were pretty unisex (moituriser, lip balm etc.), although I admit to not being able to fathom the subtelties of the male mind when it comes to 'product'.

I have not had a key ring since the brown and black bags were replaced by the current ones a year or more ago. I like the metal pens (I still pick the "fin" ones up in clubhouses from time to time), though they are too slippy - a little milling at the grip end would not go amiss..

I liked the note pads in the old kits - very useful to have for my kids when on a journey.

The most recent kits I have got have had plastic pen, socks, blindfold, ear plugs, chilled eye mask, polo mints, toothbrush and paste and a charity envelope. The "cosmetics" come in a separate box, either "night" or "day", with Virgin Vie moisturiser, eye gel and a couple of other things.

I would agree that the Virgin Vie lacks class, and the kit as a whole doesn't feel as good quality as (for example) the BA-CW Molton Brown kit. VS has tried to do idiosyncratic (the snake / cat socks, the chilled eye mask), which sort of matches the mood of the airline, but I would think that they could probably do better.

Candyman, your daughter will get one - she has a seat, therefore she gets all of the perks. I bet that she will be thrilled :) (at least, I know that I loved that sort of thing as a kid - even when I was a kid I appreciated Business Class travel...)

I am a bit worried that you lot all refer to sleeping masks as "blindfolds" - is making me begin to worry what type of forum I have stumbled into here!!!

Virgin are missing a bit of a trick with there amenity kits (although I can understand the brand loyalty, and probably cost savings, of using Virgin Vie...). BA's adoption of Molton Brown products introduced me (ok, now I am addicted) to them and has made me a big fan (and boosted Molton's profits a bit!). The same cannot be said for Virgin Vie - Virgin have not turned me into a Virgin Vie addict...

:D

I thought they were referring to that green and brown cravat/headsquare thingy.

In my last amenity bag I got Space.NK cosmetics and a fold-up mirror/clothes brush doo-hicky

What's in the Y bag? I'd hate to take a lump of coal n board to find there was already one there. ;)

Y and PE Bags are the same. Outbound from the UK it is a very useful see through beach bag with eyeshades, socks, pen and notebook with an envelope for loose change for the charity (v.important);). Whilst the kit is not the same qual;ity as UC it is still pretty servicable.[8D]

On the return to the UK is is a see through pencil case.

I still enjoy opening them even though I have loads - i have passed most of the contents on to my local cub scout pack.

shame about the pens being plastic!
Still I have loads of metal ones!
the toothbrush is far higher quality than Y class and has actual colgate toothpaste
I never really used the cosmetics except for the facewash in the UC toilet!

Hi Go,

Right on, I've now bought an electric Oral-B just to clean around the studs on my split rims, after years of manual toothbrush this works great ;)

My parents showed me the BA-CW kit they swiped off a CW seat recently and it had Origin products, definitely a classy line and one that would fit well with Virgin.

I had noticed recently a downgrade in the kits as you have. I loved it when we used to get the Space:NK line. I even found that they downgraded the earplug (they used to come in a nice plastic case, now it's just paper like the Y and PE bags)

But you might just find her putting it somewhere other than on the charging stand if you use it on your car wheels [:0]
