When I first got my Amex Gold card, I got 2 mrps per £. That dropped to 1 when I changed to Platinum (not sure if it stopped because of the change, or if the offer just happened to end at the time I switched). I think there has been a Gold promotion where you got 2 points for every £ spent with VS. At the moment I'm getting 2 for every £ spent in some supermarkets and petrol stations.

It was an Amex promo, for Gold Cards, aimed at attracting new cardholders. In fact they ran two promo's one gave you a Gold Card with 1 MR point on normal spend and two points with spend directly with Virgin Atlantic and the other (for a higher fee) gave you two points on normal spend and four with VA spend. The latter offer was withdrawn a few months ago but I believe the former is still running. Unfortunately you cannot get this benefit with a Plat or Cent card. [:(]

You can get 2 points per £ with a Flying Club Mastercard though:D:D

You just don't get any of the other perks Amex offer[:(]

I have an Amex Plat card becuase the Insurance and Priority Pass justify the cost, but use my Virgin Credit Card fro most purchases, thereby getting the best of both worlds.

I too have never had any double MR promos with my gold Amex card and had it over 2 years now, nor did I ever when I had my Plat Amex card (cancelled that when Clubhouse access was withdrawn).
