What is the Airbag Seatbelt?? Any pictures? How does it work????

There's one built into the seatbelts (there's 2, one each side of the 'flip'), and there might also be one in the side wall of the Suites. The addition of the airbags are what allow you to recline during takeoff and landing - which is a very enjoyable experience!

Flo's recent trip report to LAX shows one of the seatbelts pretty clearly in one of her photos - take a look.

As Pix says, the airbag seatbelt is only designed to allow pax in the suites to take off and land in a reclined position.

It is not to be used when using the suite as a bed and in any case suites have to be in the seat position for takeoff and landing.

I presume what you mean by the airbag = Extra padding? No sometime that inflates or explodes on impact?????

it seems to be an "airbag" in the classically understood sense. Impact, controlled explosion, inflation.

Airbag seatbelts are also fitted to Economy seats on the A340-600 at seats by a bulkhead or exit where there is chance of the passenger hitting there head in an impact.

The airbag will inflate and works like a car airbag.

All new aircraft built after a certain date have to have them where there is chance of a headstrike.

This is not exclusive to VAA!

So what you mean is that the AIRBAG built into the seat belt does Inflate upon impact/stress and an inflated bag will pop up?

Thats why if you look carefully at the seatbelts you will see a sticker about the airbags.

An adaptor has to be fitted if young children are seated there, so that it can be deactivated, there are a pair of sensors in the clasp area, that detects for the adaptor.
