Please forgive the delay of this trip report. Ive just been really busy or really lazy over the last week so sorry.

Anyway we arrived at SYD early enough. Check in was easy and very good. The guy behind the desk was very helpful in all accounts. He even offered to take my clubs to the oversize baggage area but I declined, as it was less than a 100 yards away (Im not that lazy, yet).

We had a look around the landside area of SYD. Nothing much there except the usual shops and places to eat. Breezed through emigration and security and headed off to the Air New Zealand lounge. It was a nice big lounge with plenty of places to sit, a business centre and showers. Not much in the way of food to eat but the views over the runway more than made up for that. We were called for our flight about 2ish and we headed down to 57. Our aircraft for today was an A340-600 G-VOGE.

I was soon settling into 14A. Drinks were offered as usual and the IFBT came around to see if I wanted any treatments. We pushed back soon after. The Captain came on the P.A to announce a flying time of 9 hours on the button. Soon we where leaving a wet and wild SYD.

Once in the air the seatbelt sign was turned off quick enough and V-port started very quickly and without the 10mins of info. The crew came around with crisps and drinks and took our meal orders. I had a beef tenderloin, which was very good and followed it with some vanilla ice cream.

Watched a bit of v-port and then took on the lamb in the quiz challenge in which I won. The IFBT came and asked me did I want to have my treatment. I went off and had the shoulders one, which was good. I then went for a walk down the plane. Economy was empty enough but PE and UC were more than half full. I was surprised how long the aircraft felt; it didnt feel as long as a 747 even though its longer than a 747.
I then headed to the bar for a bit and got chatting with one of the crew. We were chatting about all sorts of things about VS and aviation in general. Soon it was time of a snack and had a couple of bacon rolls, which were served very promptly by this great member of crew.

Soon it was time for landing so back to our seat. We landed on time on runway 25 right and were at the gate 5 minutes later. Breezed through immigration easily and the bags came out quick enough.

Overall a perfect flight. From start to finish, nothing could be faulted. The check in agent in SYD was great, the food was great and most importantly the crew were brilliant. 10 out of 10.

On this particular flight for the first time ever since attaining Gold the FSM came and welcomed me aboard. However an indignant head popped over the partition as the same courtesy had not been accorded to his nibs [}:)] Although she did go back to him at my behest, it really wasn't the same.

I have to agree with Aer John, though. This flight was as near perfect as you could get and Aer John ended up nominating a cabin crew for a Heroes award

Watched a bit of v-port and then took on the lamb in the quiz challenge in which I won.

You won the first one and I won the second - or have you forgotten?
