This will be a mini TR for the return leg of my 'brownie point' run. Briefly I surprised my wife by flying over to NY to allow her to take 'my' seat in UC while I slummed it with the kids down the back.

The TR starts with OLCI when I realised that against all possible odds the Mrs would in fact be taking a J2000 seat as we had been assigned Maiden Toulouse ! (The ONLY non- UCS aircraft left).[:(!]

Fast forward to JFK and I take my wife and kids up to the door of the clubhouse to explain to the (very nice) lady that although the invite said John in fact Leah would be in the big seat. She had good news - she suggested that I take Leah as my guest and then, as we couldn't really leave the kids outside she would let them in as well ! [^]

Three hours, four cocktails, three Thai Ducks and a burger later we exit the clubhouse in very good spirits - the kids are confirmed V-Flyers [:D]

AS we board I explain again and kiss Leah goodbye as she 'turns left' much cheering from crew !

Y - much of a muchness - seat OK (I'm shortish) boys happy enough with Arcadia - service haphazard. (Special meals delivered to wrong row twice!).

J (as reported) excellent - Leah had 3 treatments ad the ladies kept her well topped up with drinks and food. She hated the the seat in both seat and 'bed' guise (and in November it will be no more).

All in all a VS victory - I wasn't happy about the non-UCS but the 'flexibility' shown at the CLubhouse makes up for it[:)]

Suprised the non-UCS experience didn't ruin your trip.

CH service sounded excellent. When VS staff are on form - They really do make the airline. Glad you enjoyed yourselves after the shock of OLCI.........[:D]

The last couple of times I flew in the J2000 cabin, when it was in the minority when compared to the UCS cabin, I found the service was really good (probably better) than in the service in UCS on the opposite sector.

I don't know whether it was a fluke, the crew being genuinely better, that the service flow for J2000 was better, or just the crew going the extra mile to 'make up'.

For day flights, I found the J2000 seat very comfy, especially at meal times. Admittedly it was a bit useless for night-time..

Oh I know...I wouldn't have been able to enjoy a single moment of my entire vacation if I'd been sat in J2000. I would have sunk beneath a sea of bile so black and corrosive that I might even have found myself loosening the strings that hold my mind in my head and gone wandering the streets of NYC, raging like Lear against the irredeemable injustice of J2000 seating.

My god, even the thought of it causes me to have a red (VS brand red, even) mist descend and completely and utterly destroy my day, my weekend, my entire life.

To some people the cost of a UC ticket IS a serious thing,you need to remember that not everyone is lucky enough to have a job that will pay for a J ticket or make enough money where a UC flight is a given,for the majority of the people flying UC is a true luxury that they may save years to do and may never get to do again,as such and this is my view for any company that sells a premium product,they should get the best the company has to offer.

So when you book VS in UC and you get stuck with the short straw of the only J2K aircraft still in the fleet it could well be a major disappointment.

Ladies and Gentlemen (and all points in betwixt)...I was merely agreeing with the poster that this would RUIN MY TRIP to be placed in a J2000. I mean, I thought that was exactly the right degree of impact such a happening would have on my vacation.

See a great museum? Sorry, already ruined as I was sat in a J2000. Had a great meal or spent quality time with your family? Nope, not me. I came over in a J2000.

Why, I am surprised the OP is even drawing breath after that disastrous circumstance.

But that's all I will say about this. You can rant all you want -- I have my Radox out and the bath is running (where is it running, you may ask? Away from a J2000, I can tell you that. I don't want to RUIN MY BATH.)
