Have just booked a holiday through VH. Have a few questions, is it worth joining the flying club? will I get anything for the flights on Virgin as part of the holiday? and if so, will this be done automatically by VA after joining?

Hi Kpen

Yes you will get miles and tier points with VS flights booked using VH

As a Flying Club member I'd say, of course it's worth it :D :D

Once enrolled in FC your VS flight earnings usually hit your FC account about 48 Hrs after your flight- your account can be viewed online at any time. Everything is done automatically. Just add your number to your booking and show your card at check-in.

If and when you do join FC, just give VH a call with your FC number to add to the booking - you should then be able to automatically view your seat maps online at the VS web site + you may also get a 10% discount added to the total cost of your booking.

If you want regular FC miles earnings, why not apply for the FC version of the Virgin Mastercard.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Our holiday is not until November 2005 (yes I know its a long way away but we like to ensure we get the holiday we want).

I understand VA will not have a record of the booking until about nine months before? is this correct? Will the flight and FC membership tie up automatically when VA have a record of the flight part of the holiday.

Do the points get added after the flights or once a booking has been made?

You mentioned you can view your seats (and request them) on VA's website, can you do this without FC membership?

We flew with VA last November, I know this out of the six months limit but is there anyway to get the points from those flights added?

Sorry for even more questions!!

You can add your Flying Club number to a booking as far in advanace as you can book a holiday. I'm not entirly sure when VH will actualy pass your deatils to VS. They may have done already. You cannot book a flight directly with any airline more than 11 months before you plan to travel. If you join FC now and give your number to VH it will be picked up automatically by the VS systems either way.

The seat maps only become available 11 months before your date of flight, you dont need to be a FC member to view these, but if your not you will need a locator number available from VH by giving them a call.

Miles and tier points will only be awarded once your booked flights have been flown (and you were on them).

I dont think you can earn any miles on flights taken more than 3 months earlier.

Hope this helps
