We have just done the £15k and will get a companion ticket after one years membership on my partners card. We planned to use this for a quick US break next year.

My query is, as its in his FC account, is it mandatory that he has the full fare ticket and i (or someone else) has the companion ticket, or would it be possible to do it the other way around. (I emailed FC but no reply yet)

I really could do with the TPs and he is happy for me to have them, so i wondered if anyone knew if it were possible? At the end of the day, there is still one full fare ticket being bought and the person who earnt the companion is still flying too.

I tried the T&Cs but they read like stereo instructions so wondered if anyone knew off hand ... ?

Highflyer, I'm sure someone will confirm but my understanding is that it is not mandatory for him to use it. I believe either of you can use it and the other one buy the qualifying ticket, so which ever of you needs the TP's or miles can benefit.

The vscc 15k reward showed up on my FC account as a gold renewal companion reward. As long as the purchased ticket is the correct fare code and there is reward space the companion could be asigned to anyone including yourself.

Excellent! Im sure ill find out soon from FC but thats certainly a positive anyway!

Its such a shame you have to wait to the renewal of the year to get the ticket, we have spent the £15k so being greedy buggers we would like the ticket now! (alreay planning its use!)

I dont suppose any amount of asking nicely will get them to give it to you early?

I don't know if anyone has ever got one early, I'm sure if they have someone will post and let you know. My view, well as ever, there's no harm in asking! ;)

Yeah, might give them a call then, they can only say no cant they!

Lets face it, im not going to get back that £15k, its theirs well and truly so there is no harm in it, i will let you if we get a successful outcome.

If anyone out there has tried this, please let me know!! (whether it was a thumbs up or down)

Hi,

No restrictions on which name goes on the companion ticket, and which name goes on the qualifying revenue ticket.

As for getting the companion voucher early, no idea as I don't have a VS credit card (they don't do it in Black :)) but you might want to check the T&C's; I think it would be classed as benefit jsut like cashback is, so the review date is yearly.

Thanks,
Richard

For those who are interested ...

Called Flying Club, and they said that our Companion ticket is avialable as soon as they have recieved £15k in expenditure from us. All we have to wait for is for the ticket to be approved, which can take 28 days. FC said that they would liase with MBNA to see if they can move that forward a bit to allow us our ticket as soon as possible, they said to check our account next week, and to call them if it hasnt appeared by then.

So, good news! and with that, we have decided to book a Christmas break to LAS with the companion reward!! :D:D
