Hi all, just joined up and really enjoying reading all this info! Me & Mrs JAT are flying on VS033 25 Aug with seats booked in PE and a seats available upgrade to Upper plus an invite to the UC lounge at Gatwick. What do you think my chances of the upgrade are and what delights await us inthe lounge?

Hi Jat,

I think what you are saying is that you are booked in PE, and there are seats still available in UC. Therefore what are you chances of being upgrades, and what will the lounge be like at Gatwick if you are upgraded.

Well, first point, if you have already seen it, have a look at the upgrade guide found on here -> http://www.v-flyer.com/upgrades.asp

Secondly, as It says in the guide, if you are lucky enough to get an operational upgrade then this does not give you access to the lounge.

Hope this helps.

Should have made it a bit clearer Steven....

Yes, we're booked in PE but have a seats available upgrade already authorised on my booking and also an invite to the lounge pre arranged.

Just wondered if anyone knew what the likely loadings are for the ANU at that time of year in UC and therefore the likelyhood of getting in!!

Hi JAT (& welcome!)

That flight shows as:
J7 D7 Z7 W7 K6 Y7 B7 L7 M7 Q7 X0 N0

So, basically there's still a load of availability in UC and PE

You can check class availability with a couple of tools available:
http://www.flyaow.com/classamex.htm (web-based tool)
and
http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~hartberg/ft/SabretoolSetup.htm (downloadable application)

Cheers

I came back on the 34 from Antigua last night!
I was in PE both ways and had lounge access on the way out at LGW... The lounge at gatwick is very nice. Great food, Great atmosphere and Great people!
If you want to know any specific details, drop me a pm

Hope this helps....

Out of interest, how did you secure a 'seats available upgrade'?

Upgrades between classes issued for miles are generally "seats available". If they can't be used on that flight you can use them on a subsequent flight. B&S routes frequently have UC availability so the chances of the upgrade happening are very good :D

Highflyer,
Did a few favours for someone who can make that sort of thing happen a while back. On my first attempt the flights were full in UC both ways so didn't get it (and was in economy) so this time I'm not taking the gamble and have booked PE just in case!!!

Hi Jat,

Good luck with your upgrade to UC, the Clubhouse at LGW is very pleasant and the staff are great, Linda is the Manager there and look out for Rina Doherty, Clubhouse Agent. Rina was the winner or the first heat in the Flying Club nominated section of the Virgin Heroes 2004 program. Make sure you arrive early to allow yourself enough time to fully enjoy the experience - which you will [8D]. They open at 07.00 BTW.

Thanks to all of you peeps for such positive and friendly replies. I am so looking forward to the flights (as always) the beach at Galley Bay is almost a secondary concern!
