We came back from NOLA in late June flying UA to IAD then VS to LHR. The clubhouse is one of the better ones in my view. Pleasant welcome and very attentive if a little inexperienced bar personnel when I was there. (Heard breaking glass twice in 30 minutes). The clubhouse is laid out over two levels with the upstairs area having loungers and computer games. Downstairs the bar and food service are excellent and there is good internet access. Toilets can have queues if the clubhouse is busy as there's only one per gender.

Hi,

I each Deckers comments. For PE and UC check in very little queues ( longer for Y pax) security was ok ( 5 mins).
Lounge is very good ( great food and drinks including a 3 course meal if you wanted) and is right across from the usual VS Gate ( B32 i think). 2 pc's with internet access.
Staff were very good as the receptioninst found me and asked me to come to the front desk as my seat eas being moved ( from PE to UC!!:D) and then brought me my new boarding pass a few minutes later.

Regards

Dulles is OK

-> The airport is modern
-> The VS Check In staff are not bad.
-> You have to get on a special kind of bus.
-> It is located in Virgina not D.C
Its busy, but not as busy as LHR.

Thanks for everyone's help!

One other thing...what is the best way to get there...besides taxi...thanks again...also if you suggest something, what are your experiences with that method of transport :)

Dulles is a nice airport...it's modern, can get very busy at times, and is a good place to relax I suppose ahead of a long flight. How to get there though it depends...taxi is an option, if you're at a hotel in the northern Virginia area or in the Washington D.C. area hotel buses frequently travel between hotel and Dulles. The airport itself is approximately...40-50 mins drive from downtown Washington so it isn't exactly closeby!

IAD is tough to get to without a taxi or car. I don't think I've ever done it without either. They are building a rail link but then we're told another ice age is coming...

Best way to get to Dulles is by the Super Shuttle or Taxi. No public Transportation to IAD (Bus, Train etc)

As a crew member I love the staff at IAD (VS that is). Find them very friendly and effiecient. Also seem to see the same faces all the time which shows experience as well. Clubhouse looks nice and it is right opposite the departure gate!

Hi,

I use the Metro ( Orange line I think) to West Falls Church then get on the Washington Flyer Bus ( around every 15-30mins) for a 20 min journey to Dulles ( tiickets were $15 rtn approx).
Straightforward journey from downtown DC
