Arrived at JFK about 4pm no one infront of me at check-in. The member of staff was very polite and efficient, all done within a matter of seconds. Dragged my bag off to the screening area then it was up to the Clubhouse.
Greeted by a very nice lady who informed me that the VS045 had left London on time so there should be no delay with tonights flight home.
The Clubhouse was fairly empty, most were passengers from the VS004 with a few on the SAA flight. Service was excellent but I passed on the food as I wasn't really hungry (which later turned out to be a mistake).
The flight was call at 7pm and we took the short walk down to security, the place was deserted, even the TSA officer was happy! he joked with me that one of his colleagues was so ugly that it kept people away. He even laughed when I walked through the scanner setting the alarm off with my mobile in my pocket.
Boarding was effortless despite UC being full and we pushed back 10 minutes early. There then followed the usual 45 minute queue to get to the runway and we finally took off about 8.40pm.
Once airborne it became apparent how many Virgin virgins there were on board. A high % of the front cabin (I was in 9K) were Americans and had never travelled on VS. I got talking to the lady opposite who could not figure out how to use her v-port. She told me she had booked a Virgin flight as it was supposed to be the second week of the BA strike so she wanted to play it safe.
Alot of people had passed on food and the cabin crew were busy making up the beds. I of course had forgotten that they only have hot and cold trays of food on these night flights so was rather regreting not eating in the Clubhouse. I did however, have some ice cream.
Just as I was about to have my bed made up the IFBT came around and invited me for my treatment, I had opted for the back and head massage which was very relaxing and had set me up for a good nights sleep.
Returned to my seat to find the FSM and a member of the crew struggling to make my seat become a bed. After a bit of thump and a loud grinding noise it finally became flat and I was able to climb into bed.
Woke about an hour before landing, had a peep at the I-map which showed we were off the southern coast of Ireland. Luckly I was one of the first to rise as a few minutes later there was the usual rush for the bathrooms to change out of the ninja suits, this wasn't helped by the captain announcing that we were ahead of schedule and he was expecting a quick decent into LHR.
The bed had to be 'helped' back into a seat and the table would not stow away correctly but because of the quick landing I didn't really have time to worry about it.
Landed 20 minutes early and there were no delays in getting a gate. There were only 5 people infront of me at immigration and my case was in the baggage hall when I arrived.
Quickly up to revivals which was extremely busy (30 minute wait for shower) even had to wait for a space to sit for breakfast.

Overall very impressed with the flight although I'm still not sure about the 'scrooge pack'. I know it's a shoe bag but there's still not much in it even with the IFBT offering Pens, polos and a couple of beauty items.

No landing early on JFK flights is a pain - it's already too short a journey :)

Thanks for the TR - sorry to hear you were caught out by the GNF...

I have yet to experience a GNF flight and I'd like to keep it that way[;)]
