We decided to do the twilight check in as we were staying in the Hilton the night before and wanted to ensure we got seats in the bubble, arrived with hardly no wait and was assigned 79AK my fave seats as you get the little table on the side of seat C.
Arrived the next day and priority boarding was working with a big purple sign to state where upper PE and gold card passengers were to line up- this still didnt stop economy crowding the area.
Noticed on boarding that the PE seats upstairs have new covers- they are now all red, im sure they were blue/red before, also Economy was kitted out in a light grey colour ( I think, Im colour blind so it may be way different!) I think the plane was Vigina plane one of the old LHR 747s
Take off was over an hour late as there was a discrepancy between the number of passengers and the amount of baggage loaded- this is the 3rd time at Gatwick I have had a delay for almost the same thing- the Gatwick ground crew need to get their act together.
New PE service was quite impressive, however it did take longer for the meal service to be served and by the time it got to me they had run out of one of the choices, I suppose now its a dedicated service for PE they are much more limited with the amount of meals carried and your no longer guaranteed your first choice. It was only towards the end of the meal that I noticed my tray was different to other passengers- no cheeky pot au chocolate- I got dried fruit!- Passenger opposite said I had the Diabetic tray, although I did mange to snag a choc desert later!
Rest of the flight was long and boring really- delay on landing to let paramedics on to stretcher off a sick person from Upper, and was one of the first off the plane and through immigration!
All said it was a good flight- shame Gatwick ground crew cant seem to count!
My first trip report on here, sorry theres not much detail!
