It was time for our New Year trip to WDW [:D]

I suddenly woke up at 4.30am with a start I hadnt found the travel insurance so I got up and found it where I thought it was! So after a quick cup of tea we were off at just before 5.30am we arrived at around 6.30am and made our way to check in. It did look busy at check in but the PE line moved quickly and soon we had our boarding passes with the seats I had pre booked. We were warned that security lines were long and it may take up to 2 hours to clear [:0] It was then time to collect the money which I had messed up on and so it was all in my name! With that we said goodbye to MIL and headed for security. To be honest it moved quickly and we were through in about 25 minutes. It was then full steam ahead to the Clubhouse. It did look odd arriving in darkness but soon we were eating I had the smoked salmon and scrambled egg with hollandaise sauce with champagne whilst hubbie had Pigs in blankets which was sausage, bacon, egg and tomato with toast and an orange juice. After munching away happily I then decided to confirm the times of the massages and we then headed off for a bit of shopping. The Next sale was on so I got a bargain for a pair of trousers and a pair of shorts [:)] Upon arriving back we had a little time to surf the internet before my massage, which was a very nice way to spend a few minutes, then it was time to swap and hubbie had his massage. By now we were hungry so I had a bacon baguette and tea whilst hubbie repeated his first order. There was still plenty of time to spare so we surfed the internet once more before getting a drink at the bar, which was when hubbie spotted Jonathon Ross and family at the far end. By 10.15 we decided to head off for the gate and made our way to the satellite, and waited until the Priority boarding was announced. Once onboard we settled down and the crew seemed very busy with it taking ages for drinks to be offered. There was then a slight delay as no body came forward to claim a child car seat, but we did take off at 12.00, 45 minutes late. I must say that the flight was very busy and the new menu caused confusion as the printed one was not what was actually being served! Also by the time we were served they had run out of PE meal trays, which was very disappointing as I was looking forward to the GU chocolate pot [n]

I must say the main meal also came in a foil dish which was a bit odd as all PE meals should be on china. After eating it was time to sit back and try to get some sleep. After dozing for a while listening to our ipods we then had ice cream and watched the scenery changing.

Prior to landing as always was the snack, which was a nice chicken Caesar sandwich, with mini cheddars and fruit.

As we approached Florida it got quite cloudy but we landed on time at 15.40. After making a quick exit we got to Immigration with just a person already at the desk so we were through in about 10 minutes. It was then a case of waiting for the luggage which did arrive very quickly and virtually together. Off we went to Customs and left the luggage again before getting the monorail to the main part of the terminal, where here the luggage took longer to appear and not together! Once all collected we got our car from Dollar a lovely Ford Taurus! But hey it was wheels and would get us where we wanted to go. Off we headed to Disney for our New Year's Eve celebrations at Epcot, the main reason for this trip.

The new PE service certainly looks very classy - but you're right; having the main dish in foil does look quite odd! Thanks for a great TR + pics [y]

Yeh there was a shortage of china after the service launched so for a while som (LGW) flights were using foil dishes this has now been recitified - also the 2nd service now comes with china cups rather than the Y plastic!

We flew from MAN on the 19th Dec and had the china dishes. Our menu was also wrong, as were our TV magazines or movies for the 3rd flight in a row. They really need to get the basics right. We didn't get mini-cheddars, just the sandwich and fruit, I had to 'borrow' the kids 'Walkers French Fries' [:D] Our Gu pudding was a horrible raspberry thing, nowhere near as good as the chocolate one.

How strange they gave you the meal in a foil tray? [:?]

Thanks for the TR - v. informatuve for those who come to the site in readiness for their first ever trip in PE to Orlando[y][y]

BTW when Mrs Buns & I travelled to MCO earlier in the December and were seated in 80 H&K, we too found that they had run out of PE meals.

Would I be right is assuming that you had paid for entry to the Clubhouse??

Yes we did pay for CH entrance, and well worth it too [:D]

Hmmm interesting about running out of meals for yourselves, thought it was just our flight as it appeared they were thinking they had given kids the adult meals when they had kids meals ordered [?]

Thanks for the clarification on the Clubhouse

I have to say that is how Mrs Buns & I first experienced the Clubhouse. Like many others, we caught the bug and now will do everthing in our power to make sure our trips to Orlando start at the wonderful Gatwick Clubhouse[y][y]
