Saturday morning, 11.30am and the Virgin-Atlantic check-in area was very busy. I had completed the online check-in so went to the bag drop. There were approximately 10 people in front of me but the queue moved pretty fast.
I went off and got some breakfast before heading for Security. The Security section at Heathrow could have been a little better planned as the space is very limited but there were no interruptions and everything moved smoothly.
Had a cup of tea and waited around for a bit until my gate was announced. Long walk to gate 40, and there was Tinker Belle. On boarding, the cabin crew looked pretty good, my mate was right. [^]
I was in 72A , nice seat (old PE ), leg room was OK for me and the storage and shelf area under the window was very useful. Service from the cabin crew was excellent throughout the flight. Two rounds of champagne, followed by snacks, then lunch with wine followed by Brandy or Baileys. The meal was good, I chose the Bangers and Mash which I liked. I thought the tea/coffee cup on the tray was too small though. More tea/coffee, ice cream, more snacks more drinks.
V:Port was good, although I thought the navigation was slightly clunky.
We ran into some major turbulence on the way, which I enjoyed, unlike the lady opposite who said that in all her years of flying she had never experienced anything like that before. Is it an illusion or do the wings actually flex relative to the fuselage in turbulence??!! [:0]
There was no queuing on our approach down to JFK, landing was smooth and we landed on time. Baggage reclaim was fast, no waiting about. Customs and Immigration was efficient, I just had a bit of trouble pressing hard enough on the finger print scanner.
Overall the flight was very good, great value for money, no delays and great service! [y]
