Ooooh - started yesterday [y]

Although the ad says 'from £129 each way', there are dates that are £79 in Y and £158 in W, each way available through August.

Cabin classes are interesting:
Economy Standard
31' seat pitch
1 meal & 1 snack included
Free soft drinks throughout flight
20 kg baggage allowance

Premium Economy
36' seat pitch
Selection of your seat number
Complimentary alcoholic drinks
Choice of meal and 1 snack
Increased baggage allowance (30Kg)
Priority baggage delivery
Complimentary headsets
Dedicated check in & reduced check in time (90 mins prior to departure)

Be careful on the taxes though!
Outbound, the 'taxes, fees and surcharges' for a Y ticket total £106.50 and inbound, it's another £47.25. So, two '£79 one-way' tickets come out at a total of £311.75! [:0]

Zoom has a bunch so cheap ticket to/from LGW to NYC and load of other places. Only issues is the plane LGW to JFK stops in BDA.

Zoom offers a PE too!

The stops in BDA are on the Sunday and Wednesday flights from LGW -JFK. The Zoom flights from BDA-JFK are competitive, $19 plus $137 taxes etc, one way, beats the pants of off the likes of CO and AA. The only problem for me is, at the moment, Zooms limited schedule. For now I shall have to stick with the likes of B6 and AA[xx(]

However, as the sole member of the V-Flyer Bermuda contingent, I'm more than happy to show any fellow V-Flyers around the Island, should you accidentally find yourself here![:D]

Oooh, Flippin 'eck...........What have I started? [:p]

4 bed house with pool and views to the Atlantic Ocean, anyone? [:w]

Currently, the cockroaches are making a bid to be the next sole owners of the property, determined little buggers and there was a dead rat in the garden last week. Aaah, paradise ain't what it use to be![;)]

Pah. Minor thing. Us V-Flyers are a hardy bunch. A little privations in exchange for time in paradise.

Means I can finally wear my shorts in the correct setting.

As a side line to this, has anyone on here flown with them ?

With these fares I'm looking seriously at September as Virgin PE is £400 more expensive ! I'm taking my Aunty for her 80th Birthday

The only thing that puts me off is the fact that's there's only 1 flight a day, and I can't afford to have delays ...

Guess that's the attraction of Virgin with loads of New York flights.

Any suggestions ?

There's a brief review of the first flight in the Travel supplement of todays Sunday Times although I can't seem to find a link for it at the moment.

General opinion is that the flight was more than adequate in economy (no review of premium) and that 12 economy passengers questioned would use the service again.

Hi Andrew,

So far I have only had a second hand account from somebody regarding Zoom on the LGW-JFK route, so will post when I get something more concrete!

Personally I would fly with VS, given the special nature of the occasion and the availability of flights. Like you said with only one flight a day on Zoom, if there are problems with the aircraft or delays you could well be stuck in LGW with no other options.

Massive bonus for FLL who have struggled with UK carriers- must be for the cruise season. I have always wondered how LTU (or now Air Berlin as its called) and Condor can do so well on the FLL route but UK carriers seem to fail.

Looks like the added investment by RBS is now paying off for Zoom.

It's not just for the cruise season, most of the cruise lines book on BA/VS/AA into MIA.

Though saying that, FLL is the perfect airport to fly into if you are taking a cruise as it is only a 10 min drive to the port.

Absolutely agree - it also has reasonably good connections to other Florida destinations. I for one would be very happy if VS moved from MIA, or added FLL as a destination.
