Well here goes my first TR (deep breath) we set off to Paddington via the Underground to catch the Hex first class and I have to say its the fastest route to LHR but not worth the extra for First Class. When arrived at LHR Central Terminal area where we transferred to the Radisson Edwardian Plaza Hotel for an overnight stay. This Hotel gets thumbs up [y]. We used the OLCI service at the Hotel (free WIFI)it was fast and no problems.
Next day we arrived at T3 and went to Zone A to check-in at the bag drop the staff were warm and friendly it was a bit slow but quicker than us using the normal economy check-in, then its off to security this took about half an hour, belt off, money, phone, Laptop all in a tray. For once no beep from security arch. And for you celebrity watchers Adrian Edmondson and Jennifer Saunders were in fast track as we were queuing.
And we were waved through the shoe scan[:D].
Then off to the Clubhouse to meet Highflyer and Richard who both kindly invited us to join them (many thanks to you both[y][y]) Now where do I start as this was our fist visit and we were a bit stunned wow! what an oasis!!! The warmest greeting from our hosts Highflyer and Richard, and little did we know what future announcement was to be made[^]. The first order of the day champagne followed by a haircut for me, Rosie enjoyed the bacon roll and I had the eggs Benedict it was super. All to soon Highflyer and Richard was called to depart on the VS021.After a while We went shopping (ouch). Then our flight was called when we made our way to gate 323, Tubular Belle was waiting for us. There seemed to be no priority boarding for UC pax, once on the Aircraft the C.C. were great as was the F.S.M . We pushed back on time and taxied to the runway without much delay .when we were levelled out V Port was switched on and worked impeccably for 20 mins then crashed[:(!]. the next one and half hours were spent rebooting over and over again in the end the F.S.M. gave up and managed to get just two channels working one for the kids one general film .The food service was chicken tikka masala,.meatballs and pasta [y]vegetarian shepherds pie as the mains they was accompanied buy a Greek salad starter and a GU chocolate thimble[ii] The rest of the flight passed without any problems except the seats got harder and harder the CC and the FSM worked tirelessly and I have not seen so much of a FSM on any other V.S.flight it would be nice to see this level of attention at all times not just when something goes wrong, she was always communicating and apologising for the lack of V PORT so not to have to many complaints from the pax i assume.Arrived JFK at and spent two hours in a long queue in immigration [:(!]. then we transferred to the Hotel by taxi. We arrived feeling worn out but ready to go. I hope I didnt ramble to much [:)]

Great first Trip Report John!

What a shame that V.Port failed for you. Seems like you had a worse film selection than us Odyssey passengers. Good to hear that the FSM was present in the cabin though [y]

I hope you and Rosie had a great time to New York?

Thanks,
Sarah

Great TR, John. Many thanks [y]

Glad you were able to avail of the Clubhouse. The problem is now you'll be saving all your pennies for UC [:w]

John

Thanks for the TR[y][y]

Having Economy TRs posted on the site is so important as many coming to V-flyer are looking for what they are likely to expect when they take their vacations, so a big thank you for taking the time to write.

As Honey Lamb has already said, now you have tasted the forbidden fruit, how long can you hold out[}:)][}:)]
