:D

Hi Everyone, my first ever post! Firstly i wanna say how much i love reading through the posts, its a great place to find the answers to questions you've been dying to ask!

I fly out to Las Vegas in Nov of this year, flying Pre Econ (my second time, first was to JFK) and wondered about booling a lounge to make it extra special, now i've read a few threads that say access is limited so who exactly can go in and at what cost and if i cant go in the clubhouse, is there any other lounge i can book to use and whats the location of them are they miles out from the gates?
Oh and can you book to use the fast track security??

Thanks Kiddy103as

Hi Kiddy103as & welcome to V-Flyer :)

The ways to get into the clubhouse are quite well documented in this thread.

There are various ways of using use other lounges, most involve an Amex Platinum card or a Priority Pass, but some can be paid for - see this thread for further info.

Lastly, AFAIK, there's no way to book fast track security - that's usually only granted if you're a Flying Club Gold member or flying Upper Class.

Cheers

Hi Kiddy103as

There are lounges you can pay to use at LGW. You can book through ABC Holiday Extras and BCPOnline amoongst others - check their websites to find out which lounges, how much etc. I don't think you cna pay to use fast track security.

Premium Economy passengers are entitled to use fast track at LGW.

Are you sure Jetstreamer?

I checked in for a PE flight at LGW on 22/8 this year and had no Fast Track sticker on my boarding pass and it wasn't mentioned. Then I upgraded to UC with miles at the Ticketing Desk, and my new UC boarding pass had a Fast Track sticker put on it.

Turned out the Fast Track wasn't so fast after all - only one of the screening channels was open out of a possible 3 or so, and the queue was almost as long as a normal one.

Is that new? I've not heard of that one before - it's excellent news though :)

It certainly used to be the case at LGW.

I'll have to make some enquiries the next time I'm at work as things do change from time to time.

Jet Streamer is correct - PE passengers should be able to use the FastTrack facilities at UK airports - one of the reasons given why PE attracts the higher rate of APD (Air Passenger Duty).

Just show your PE ticket to the agent at Fastrack and mention it to them, or mention it at check-in.

Thanks,
Richard

Darn shame I didn't know about this earlier - still, better late than never :D

I was concerned that I was giving out incorrect or out of date information!

This is an extract taken from the Onboard Managers Handbook:-

"Departures Fast Track - This is available to all Upper Class customers at LHR and all Upper Class and Premium Economy customers at LGW. At LGW the Check In Agent will place a Fast Track sticker on the boarding card. Fast Track opening hours at LGW are 0600-1000"

Ive just come back from LGW to BGI but had no Fasttrack sticker, is this something we should be asking for? I'll certainly enquire next time

Hi Jetstreamer

Thanks for that confirmation - like I said, I've never seen that before, but it's great to know :)

JetStreamer quotes the 'Onboard Manager's Handbook' as stating UC pax at LHR and UC and PE pax at LGW but Richard says PE can use 'Fast Track' at all UK airports, can someone clear up this apparent contradiction please?

I have always asked for a fast tracker sticker to be applied to my ticket when flying PE from LHR; perhaps this is a AU perk as I check-in at UC?
cheers

Yes, it is a FC Au perk.

I'm guessing you get gold coloured "Flying Club Fast-track" sticker applied to your boarding card.

Yes you can. Make sure the Check In Agent puts a Fast Track sticker on your boarding card.

We have flown PE 2 or 3 times a year for the past 10 years from lgw and have never had a fast track sticker put on our boarding pass.

March 04, Nov 03, Aug 03 and Feb 03 were the latest times, so is this something new, or have we just been missing out ;)

Thanks
