my first trip report, so please forgive me if I do things wrong, also trip was a while ago so may have forgotten details, hopefully will give overall picture.
My two sons and I set off for New York on Upper Class, our 2nd such trip, was even more excited than first time cos we knew what was waiting for us at Clubhouse. Got checked in very quickly and without anything to mention, then rushed up to Clubhouse, was working on principal that might never fly UC again so make most of it whilst you can, also had a collagen eye treatment booked!
Took seats overlooking tarmac to watch planes and ordered breakfast, unfortunately managed to pick an area being served by horrible man, would have called him something else but not sure how swearing even if with asterix is permitted on site. He served my son a full english breakfast and me a wonderful eggs benedict as if there were a bad smell following us around! So we ate quickly and moved away towards the library ans was served by lovely girl, had a very nice Bellini. The upstairs lounge was cordoned off, and we found out why as the Kaiser Chiefs walked in. Both my teenage sons were now in their element, but didn't pluck up enough courage to ask for a photo. We hoped they were flying on our flight but were on Japan flight
All too quickly we were called to Gate, didn't notice which plane we were on, but we had great seats. We were right in the nose on the lower deck, great seats as people only walked past you when they were serving you, a very peaceful flight.
The in flight entertainment was ok, we flew to Dubai in February and I think films were mostly the same. Can't remember what we ate, but it was fine, wine was pleasant, FA very helpful. It was a very pleasant flight. spoiled only by not getting a IFBT again. Would love to know how they decide who to give treatments to, and it can't just be to do with FC status, as the man across from me was Gold and he didn't get one either. However I was given a preferential card to give to Beauty Therapist for my return trip, which was better than on my Dubai trip.
On arrival in New York, what chaos, a wait of one and a half hours to get through Immigration, that to me seems ridiculous, but perhaps that's normal now in New York, we have been to US for the last 4 years and have never waited that long.
Hope you enjoyed my rather woolly trip report, will do my return from IAD next and hopefully will remember more details. I love flying VS, especially UC, and feel very privileged that I have been able to do so, I think service was mostly very good, and have no complaints apart from man in Clubhouse. However I do think that the more you fly with an airline the more you start to expect for your money, the more picky you get and more easily dissatisfied. Think might do an Economy trip to bring me back down to earth!
