Seen an advert in the paper today by MH saying they are to start twice weekly LGW-KUL for the summer only on a 777. This brings the total to 3 daily LON-KUL flights. I wonder if this has anything to do with rumours of British airlines sniffing around at the route.

This has to be the most bizarre route announcement of late, especially given MH cutting back on European routes.

MH can definitely sell the seats. The MH flights I've take to Sepang have always been jammed in all cabins..[:)]

MH must have no access to slots at LHR to warrant moving to LGW. I would also imagine that LGW currently has some very attractive fees given the large volume of ops being moving to LHR becuase of open skies...[:D]

Except MH cut frequency to LHR last year I believe. Which strikes me as odd- I would imagine they wanted slots for LHR for 3 months but couldnt get hands on any- after all they must be spending a fair whack to put infrastructure in place for LGW flights.
