I guess it is a bit early to guess but does anyone know enough about codeshares to ascertain whether fuel surcharges were levied on say an IB flight number operated by BA?

Cheers

I am guessing that it is any flight where the airline charged you a fuel supplement...including reward and codeshare.

Reward flights are def included, says so in the FAQ on the lawyers website, not sure on codeshare though...

If they charged you the standard (at the time) VS /BA surcharge then I can't see the lawyers letting that slip through......but if they do..Let's sue the lawyers !

How do you find out previous flight details for Virgin or BA?

What if you booked (and paid) for a ticket on the 22nd March but didn't fly until after the 23rd March. Will they be refunded, because I assume that before the 23rd you still paid that particular fuel surcharge.

Or didn't you [?]

Or if you booked and paid for a flight then didn't take it...and didn't seek a refund on tax and fuel surcharge.

Anyone seen any estimates on how much this might cost VS/BA?

According to the BBC news, it could be as much as 100million if all tickets sold are claimed against, however I imagine a lot of people won't claim

Again according to the BBC and the other bits of news I have managed to catch, the criteria is that you bought a ticket between the dates they are quoting, so yes I imagine you will be able to claim a refund although all will become clear over the next few week I imagine.

Any money remaining is meant to be going to certain charities if the PR is correct on the lawyers site.

Site is now up.

Interesting to note (for BA) that it only applies to flights over 7 hours.

If, as it says on the website, it is for

For transatlantic and other long haul flights (over 7 hours) from the U.K.

where does that leave passengers on the LHR-DXB leg which is down as 6 hours 55 minutes on the VS website?

As VS only currently offer long haul flights, you'd think that all flights would have to be included?

Thanks,
Sarah

From the UK? Methinks the site is badly worded as the fuel surcharges did (and still do) apply to each sector.

Thats me registered. [:)]

VS apply the same fuel surcharge to the whole of the network so all routes should qualify.

I wonder what percentage of the £73 million VS have had to contribute? Considering last years minimal profits - This could be a rather nasty exercise for VS.

And it says:

This includes all purchases by individuals or companies, whether direct from the airline, through a travel agent, as part of a package holiday or from a website.

I guess some large firms are in for considerable claims ...

Do you currently need just to register your name/contact? I'd have details of when I travelled, but not necessarily flight numbers....

At the moment Claire, yes. It's only to get your details on the list of claimants. It will be several weeks before the exact details are know, providing the judge signs off on them.
